Position Overview The EHS and Maintenance Coordinator will perform a combination of duties in relations to protecting and enhancing the safety of our associates, creating a culture where world class safety, health and environmental sustainability are ingrained as a core value. This role will also collaborate with the maintenance department to calculate, post, enter data, verify and obtain data with accurate records. These records will be used to prepare reports, statements, bill of lading, and other correspondence. This position will promote organizational safety and continuous environmental improvement across all sites by working with all departments to analyze current situations and recommend safety and environmental improvements. Key Responsibilities Health and Safety • Lead and support environmental, health and safety plans, policies and procedures across all locations to ensure compliance with local, State and Federal rules and regulations for worker safety and environmental stewardship. • Maintain corporate policies to govern sustainability, environmental, health, and safety processes and activities across the organization. • Maintain a system for reporting, monitoring, and correcting serious safety problems in alignment with corporate incident management and continuous improvement processes. • Lead workplace investigation of accidents and injuries, identify and review root cause, WHS metrics and identify incident trends and ensure corrective actions are in place to minimize operational risks. • Facilitate EHS training for associates and maximize use of standard training, includes new associate orientations, emergency procedures and required drills. • Assist with record keeping, reporting, and maintenance of records to maintain compliance with regulatory permits, including the Corporate OSHA 300 log and worker's compensation programs. • Assist in analyzing safety and sustainability processes throughout the company proactively seeking areas of opportunity for improvement; recommend changes to workflow, equipment or other process elements. • Identify elements of change necessary to support and promote EHS while educating management and peers on external best practices or initiatives to meet corporate objectives engaging closely with other cross-functional teams. • Initiate and lead special projects or initiatives to meet corporate objectives engaging closely with other cross-functional teams. • Serve as primary liaison between applicable regulatory and government agencies on safety and sustainability/environmental issues. Environmental Sustainability • Collaborate with other leaders to implement processes and technologies that reduce the organization carbon footprint. • Monitor and track sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, waste generation and recycling. Assist in preparing compliance calendars, environmental data collection, permit requirement summaries and compliance checklists; analyze and submit reports as required. • Perform routine annual or quarterly stormwater inspections. • Any other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications • Experience in Environmental Health and Safety systems. • Previous experience in applying environmental, health & safety regulations and programs in a manufacturing environment. • Safety related professional certifications or desire to obtain e.g. CS or CIH. • Process safety management skills. Required Skills/Abilities: • Assess risks, analyze safety data, and make decisions based on their findings. • Identifying patterns and trends in detailed and complex data can assist in developing strategies to improve safety and compliance. • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations to make sure organization remains compliant. • Staying updated on new laws and amendments • Knowledge of various software tools for data analysis, reporting, and documentation. Competency • Must be able to read and write English and perform basic math calculations. • Effective time management skills to achieve results through prioritizing demands. • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and effective decision-making skills. • Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills. • Must demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks and a willingness to learn. • Strong Excel skills including, but not limited to, creating and formatting spreadsheets, using formulas and functions to manage large datasets (IF, SUM, INDEX, MATCH, VLOOKUP), and creating charts/graphs. Working Conditions Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, crawl, climb, squat, and work at times both above the head and at ground level during operations. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
