Director of Pharmacy Operations (Multi-State Licensed Director of Pharmacy Operations (Multi-State Licensed Pharmacist)Full time/Day shifts Multi state license required or willingness to obtainPay- $200K annually DOE Relocation assistance- $10K Position OverviewThe Director of Pharmacy Operations is responsible for leading and scaling pharmacy operations across all dispensing locations and pharmacy partners. This leader ensures regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, clinical excellence, and financial performance while supporting rapid growth across multiple states. Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & ScaleOversee day-to-day pharmacy operations across all locations and partners.Develop and implement scalable workflows for high-volume telehealth dispensing.Drive process standardization across multi-state operations.Establish KPIs for turnaround time, error rate, inventory accuracy, and fulfillment efficiency.Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cost per script and margin performance.Regulatory & Compliance OversightEnsure compliance with state Boards of Pharmacy, USP , , , DEA, and other regulatory bodies.Oversee licensure management (pharmacists, technicians, facilities) across all operating states.Lead internal audits and prepare for external inspections.Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to mitigate risk and proactively address regulatory changes.Clinical & Quality ExcellenceMaintain high standards of compounding accuracy, labeling, and patient safety.Oversee QA/QC programs, adverse event reporting, and documentation standards.Implement error-prevention systems and root-cause analysis processes.Inventory & Vendor ManagementOversee procurement strategy, wholesaler relationships, and 503A/503B sourcing as applicable.Optimize inventory turns and reduce waste/spoilage.Negotiate vendor contracts and manage cost-of-goods performance.Technology & SystemsPartner with Product and Engineering to improve EHR, dispensing software, and workflow automation.Lead integrations with telehealth platforms and pharmacy systems.Ensure data accuracy across prescribing, dispensing, and reporting systems.Financial & Strategic LeadershipOwn pharmacy operational budget and P&L performance.Forecast volume capacity and staffing models to support growth targets.Develop pro forma modeling for expansion into new states or service lines.Support M&A diligence related to pharmacy operations, if applicable.Team Leadership & CultureLead, mentor, and scale a team of pharmacy managers, pharmacists, and technicians.Develop leadership bench strength and succession planning.Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.Partner with HR on recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.Education & Licensure RequirementsDoctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited institution required.Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in good standing (multi-state licensure preferred).Ability to obtain licensure in additional states as needed.Required Experience8+ years of pharmacy experience, with at least 4+ years in operational leadership.Experience managing multi-site or high-volume pharmacy operations.Strong knowledge of USP , , and standards.Demonstrated experience with telehealth, mail-order, or compounding pharmacy operations preferred.Experience scaling operations in a high-growth environment.Budget ownership and financial management experience.Proven track record of regulatory compliance and successful inspection outcomes.
