Job Purpose Provide additional oversite & mentorship to the management team along with providing additional direction and support to the associated field crews. This position carries a large amount of responsibility with a primary focus on Safety and Leadership support while also ensuring restoration and other emergency activities related to Electric Operations are safely and reliably addressed in accordance with set policies, standards and objectives within the operational and budget performance of the assigned area and multiple platforms. Due to the unpredictability of outages (due to weather, etc.), flexibility within this role is required and the incumbent must be prepared to cancel all personal plans if there are developing circumstances for a potential outage in a region. This role can be in the Central or Eastern Upstate NY areas. Key Accountabilities Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner. Promote the philosophy of safe team working and development across all activities in order to achieve set operational objectives and continuously improve performance. Challenge existing processes and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to make a positive and significant change to the Safety Culture, drive greater efficiencies and improve overall productivity for the business. Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work and allocate resources in order to ensure restoration and other emergency activities are delivered in line with service quality standards and expectations and customer/business objectives. Connects in with the right people to ensure potential obstacles or issues are overcome and resolved as quickly and effectively as possible thereby meeting or exceeding operational and budget objectives. Oversee the Electric operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost. Ensure Operations Electric teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff. Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy and regulatory requirements. Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes. Promote and implement Electric best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs. Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required Excellent oral and written communication skills. Negotiations skills. Demonstrates project leadership skills. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred in a related area or 5 to 7 years of related experience, or committed to 'on the job' training programs with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to area or discipline. Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in Field operations activities is preferred. Ability and knowledge to develop standard operating procedures for field personnel to perform electric work and connections on energized distribution/transmission facilities is preferred. Must have or possess the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting and performance tracking of the Operations Department. Must have or possess the ability to develop knowledge and understanding of National Grid's policies and processes and how to apply them effectively to the Operations Department. Must have demonstrated or possess the skills to build effective, respectful, working relationships. Ability to perform off-hour coverage and provide sound decision-making during emergency situations. Candidate must possess the ability to take initiative, work independently, and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Knowledge of Company Policy & Procedures Knowledge of Company programs such as - STORMS, ARCOS, & ADMS. Valid driver's license required Salary $121,000 - $142,000 a year National Grid utilizes an assessment that evaluates the job qualifications/characteristics using AI or statistically based scoring.
