NoCounty AlbanyStreet Address University at Albany (Office of Facilities Management)1400 Washington AvenueCity AlbanyState NYZip Code 12222Duties Description Fire Safety Maintenance Assistants perform semi-skilled tasks in the inspection and testing of various stations and systems throughout the University.Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Valid NYS Drivers License Required. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators.Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.OPERATING NEEDS:Must have valid NYS Driver's License.Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.Must be capable of working from heights, both on platforms and ladders, up to 20ft.Must be able to walk and climb stairs throughout shift.Must have ability to navigate MS Office Suite and Apple products.Must be available to work for complete duration of appointment.Ability to work alone as well as in a team environment.Additional Comments -Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community-Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role-Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
