Summary: The Geospatial Data Specialist is instrumental in the collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of geospatial and remote sensing data. In this exciting role, you will travel to project sites where you'll operate drones to capture crucial survey data. Collaborating closely with seasoned Geomatics professionals, you will engage in various tasks spanning survey work, cartography, data manipulation, geographic information analysis, and database management, all while supporting renewable energy projects such as wind, solar, transmission, and energy storage. Fieldwork may require you to stay on-site for data collection spanning 1 to 3 weeks. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of 3 in-office days each week. Key Responsibilities: Utilize drones for lidar and photogrammetric data collection. Conduct additional field data collection, including surveyed ground points. Process and analyze aerial photogrammetric and lidar data effectively. Compile and manage spatial data from various internal teams to support projects. Leverage diverse geographic information sources such as census data, satellite imagery, and engineering documents. Prepare and manage metadata efficiently. Perform quality assurance and control on data products to ensure accuracy. Provide essential information and supporting files to project teams. Conduct surface comparisons and quantity calculations with guidance. Participate in fieldwork which includes physical tasks and navigating various terrains under different weather conditions. Utilize a company vehicle to travel between project sites during both day and night hours. Exhibit dependable attendance as required. Comply with company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct. Additional Responsibilities: Demonstrate a commitment to safety and quality in all tasks undertaken. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED is required. A preferred Bachelor's degree in UAV/drone science, remote sensing, geographic information systems, cartographic science, or geodetics. FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License or Canadian equivalent (or willingness to obtain within 6 months) is required. A preferred experience of 1 year or more in drone-based data collection. Familiarity with GIS/CAD software, with a preference for 1 year of experience. Traditional field survey work experience is preferred. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for 51 to 75% of the time. A valid Driver's License is required. Proficiency in GIS/CAD software (ArcGIS, Global Mapper, AutoCAD) is vital. Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data manipulation. Knowledge of DJI flight planning software is essential. Preferred experience in remote-sensing data processing and analytics. Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently. Adept at maintaining a professional demeanor with clients, vendors, and colleagues. Familiarity with survey practices and Trimble GPS survey equipment is an asset. Experience with lidar scanners is a plus. Possess strong competencies in attention to detail, collaboration, agility, and ethics & integrity. Anticipated Compensation: $23.46 - $31.25 per hour, with final salary based on qualifications and experience. This position also includes eligibility for bonuses.
