GIS Project Manager

You will manage the Client's Enterprise GIS platform, oversee the ArcGIS Online environment, and collaborate closely with web development teams to publish online maps. Your expertise will guide the automation of GIS workflows through Python scripting, enhance data query capabilities via SQL, and facilitate user support for access and functionality issues.Daily Tasks:Creating, editing, and maintaining geospatial data and custom map projectsManaging and supporting the Enterprise GIS platform and ArcGIS Online environmentDeveloping and publishing maps for authority websites, ensuring web accessibility standards are metCollaborating with web developers to publish online maps and spatial data solutionsQuerying enterprise SQL databases for data extraction and analysisAutomating GIS processes using Python scripting to optimize workflowsProviding technical support and training to staff on GIS platform access and functionalitiesEnsuring data integrity and security across all GIS-related activitiesContributing to team objectives through additional duties as requiredRequired Skills:Proven experience managing GIS projects in a professional settingAdvanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS EnterpriseProficiency with Python scripting for GIS automationSQL query development skills for enterprise databasesFamiliarity with geocoding tools, data standards, and map creation techniquesExcellent troubleshooting and user support capabilitiesAbility to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersNice to Have Skills:Certification as a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) or ESRI ArcGIS Professional CertificationExperience with web accessibility standards for public-facing mapsFamiliarity with US Census Bureau data sources and data query techniquesExperience with R LanguageKnowledge of web development processes related to GIS publishingEducation and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldA minimum of 3-5 years of professional GIS project management experience, preferably within the public sectorOther Requirements:Ability to work remotely within Albany, NY, with occasional travel as neededStrong commitment to high-quality service and data security standardsTake the next step in your career by leading essential GIS projects that support clean energy initiatives in New York State.
