The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209. Job Summary The Transportation Director oversees all aspects of campus mobility, including transit systems, fleet management, and sustainable transport initiatives. They manage budgets, personnel, and infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient travel for students and staff, while collaborating on long-term transportation planning and regulatory compliance. Employee will report to the Vice President and Assistant Director of Facilities Management Sponsorship is not available for this position. Responsibilities * Develops, initiates and implements procedures to provide efficient and economical vehicle service to the campus. * Plans, organizes and supervises the work of personnel engaged in operating, maintaining, repairing, reserving and dispatching automotive vehicles and related facilities. * Prepares departmental budgets, directs the recording of expenses and analyzes purchase and repair costs to control expenditures. * Collects automotive vehicle data and compiles reports needed for long range planning of the transportation program. * Consult with vendors and campus officials concerning the purchase of automotive vehicles, machinery. * Enforces safety and security regulations pertaining to vehicles, travel, equipment, records and documents of the transportation department. * Procures certificates of title required by the state and arranges for registration, state inspections and insurance coverage. * Coordinates, supervise and participates in the repair and maintenance of the university vehicle fleet. * Supervise small engine repair shop. * Insures that the department provides safe, reliable quality and cost-effective vehicles for other departments. * Schedules all bus operations and motor pool vehicle travel. * Keeps familiar with all current federal, state and local transportation laws and enforcing them. * Prepares drivers travel budgets and dispatches drivers. * Performs recorded periodic inspections of all motor pool vehicles and equipment. * Reviews all drivers' paperwork (logs, reports, etc.) * Conducts courses in defensive driving for operators of university vehicles. * Maintains records required in accordance with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, Parts 382, 383, 387, 390, 496 and 340. * Reviews federal motor carrier safety regulations and adjusts when needed. * Prepares and maintains operating records and reports such as accident reports and vehicle damage. * May operate vehicles as the need arises or instructed. * Performs other duties, as assigned. Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License, Class P with passenger endorsement. Computer skills and Excel spreadsheet experience required. 2 years of supervision experience. 5 years of work-related experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with large university and/or multi-campus parking operations. Experience in a customer service or retail environment. Project and event management experience.
