Job Summary The LMS Administrator will support the Office of Distance Learning's mission to advance high-quality, accessible, and compliant digital learning environments at Albany State University by overseeing the administration, stability, and strategic use of the institutional Learning Management System. This role is responsible for managing LMS operations, integrations, system configurations, record management, and third-party tools while ensuring alignment with system-level policies, accreditation standards, federal regulations, and institutional requirements, including SACSCOC requirements, ADA/WCAG accessibility expectations, and data security standards. The LMS administrator will supervise the LMS support team, coordinate helpdesk coverage, LMS technical support, and academic and technical preparation of the LMS each term. This position serves as a critical bridge between academic affairs, instructional design, information technology, and registrar to ensure the LMS effectively supports teaching, learning, assessment, and institutional operations and reporting. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Responsibilities Oversees the daily operation, administration, and optimization of the university's Learning Management System, ensuring system reliability, performance, and data integrity. Supervise the LMS team responsible for helpdesk coverage, LMS technical support, and academic preparation of the LMS, including planning, assigning, and reviewing work to ensure quality service delivery. Manage course creation, term rollovers, enrollments, course archiving, institutional templates, and dev to prod testing, implementation, and execution. Administer institutional LMS settings, user roles, permissions, security controls, and compliance-related configurations. Oversee implementation, testing, maintenance, and support of third-party applications and integrations, including Student Information System (SIS) connections. Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and new feature deployments, including testing documentation, and communication to campus stakeholders. Develop and maintain customized documentation, workflows, and institutional procedures related to LMS use and support. Design and deliver training for faculty, staff, and students, including orientations, workshops, and online training modules focused on effective and compliant LMS use. Monitor LMS usage data and analytics to inform decision-making, system improvements, and institutional reporting needs. Collaborate with the Office of Distance Larning, ITS, Registrar, and academic units to support instructional design initiatives, accessibility efforts, and accreditation/system/federal-related requirements. Communicate system updates, institutional announcements, acceptable use policies, and security standards to LMS users. Stay current with emerging trends in learning technologies, LMS platforms, cybersecurity practices, and digital learning support models. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Institutional Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience in online learning, computer science, and/or information technology or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or a related field. 3+ years of professional experience in online learning, computer science, and/or information technology or related. Experience supporting SIS integrations, third-party educational technologies, and LMS upgrades, along with developing institutional workflows, documentation, and training resources. Experience supervising LMS or educational technology support teams, including coordinating helpdesk operations and system support services. Knowledge of system-level federal regulations and accreditation standards, including SACSCOC requirements related to online learning, course records, and institutional continuity. Knowledge of ADA/WCAG accessibility standards and digital accessibility practices. Knowledge of system integration practices, including SIS and third-party educational technologies. Understanding of data security, user access management, and records retention practices in higher education systems. Familiarity with quality assurance frameworks and online learning support structures. Skills Demonstrated skill in administering and supporting enterprise-level LMS platforms. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and system demands. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with faculty, staff, administrators, and technical teams. Ability to develop documentation, training materials, and user support resources. Supervisory and team leadership skills to coordinate LMS support operations. Abilities Ability to oversee complex digital learning systems that support institutional teaching and learning. Ability to supervise and develop staff responsible for LMS support and helpdesk services. Ability to ensure LMS operations align with accreditation, compliance, and institutional standards. Ability to collaborate across academic and technical units to support instructional delivery and innovation. Ability to analyze system data and feedback to improve LMS performance and user experience.
