SUMMARY: Hauls material to job sites and makes sure to keep bringing materials at all times. Patches roads when necessary, flags traffic and work trucks and equipment, operates truck with snowplow and/or sand spreader. Operates various equipment as needed, repairs roads and performs rough carpentry work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Operates and maintains heavy-duty trucks transporting road materials. * Operates a truck with a snowplow and/or sand spreader in snow and ice control operations. * Willing to operate all miscellaneous equipment- vibrating roller, vibrating pad foot, vibrating asphalt roller, grid roller, power broom, chip spreader, pull type ether asphalt distributor. * Willing to operate and maintain a tractor with attachments. * Willing to operate small motorized equipment such as chain saws, drills, jack hammers, saws, paving breakers, tampers, wood shredder and air compressor. * Performs as flag person, directing traffic. * Applies herbicides to highway right-of-way. * Repairs failures in the roadway, shoulders or bridge decks; repairs or replaces signs, posts, guardrails and fences. * Performs rough carpentry work, building and installing forms using lumber and small hand tools, for concrete bridge decks, bridge posts, curbs, wingwalls, and headwalls. Also builds fences and installs culverts. * Maintains valid Arkansas Class B CDL license. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Two to five years experience, High School Diploma or GED. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Communicates on a daily basis with crew members, road overseer, and road foreman. Occasionally speaks with the general public.
