Our team is seeking a staffing engineer for the Marshall TSC, servicing Calhoun, Branch, and St. Joseph counties. As a staffing engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining work zone safety and mobility, working with operations, design, and construction, and represent the Southwest Region to MDOT, public, and other agencies. As the next staffing engineer, you would be responsible for: * Designing and preparing preliminary and final plans for highways, drainage and miscellaneous highway facilities. * Working with the Traffic and Safety staff in developing other traffic-related projects. * Providing engineering support to the operations engineer for maintenance and operational focus.  * Assisting in performing duties related to the processing of construction permits that are submitted by individuals, consultants, developers, public agencies, and public/private utility companies requesting to work or place facilities within MDOT right of way (ROW).  * Reviewing and providing recommendations for approval/rejection of permit applications and coordinating utility relocations needed for MDOT construction projects. * Assisting the construction engineer in administrative oversight of construction projects and contracts. Transportation Engineer 10 One year of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 9. Transportation Engineer P11 Two years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 10. Transportation Engineer 12 Three years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11.Transportation Engineer 9 - 12 Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may be substituted for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution may only be used once for any employee for qualification of appointment or early reclassification. Possession of a valid drivers license is required.
