Overview $50/Hour Staffing Agency Model * 13 week employment contract for full time LPNs to work in Newark, New Jersey. CFG provides 24/7 medical and mental health services in county jails across New Jersey and up into New York. CFG Health Systems offers 13-week contracts with premium rates to help meet nursing shortages throughout county correctional facilities in New Jersey. It's an excellent opportunity for travel nurses to explore a variety of facilities and to gain valuable medical knowledge working with an underserved population. It takes a special sort of person to become a correctional nurse - an empathetic one who avoids judgment and maintains clear boundaries. The Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) delivers care to inmate patients utilizing the nursing assessment protocols in assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, following established philosophy. LPNs collaborate with the Registered Nurse to ensure effective patient care delivery and desired patient outcomes. LPNs effectively interact with patients while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. CFG promises you an opportunity to learn, grow, and excel in this role. Correctional Nurses provide care to inmate patients to promote & improve their overall health utilizing the nursing process in triage, professional training, and various resources in accordance with regulatory agencies and established guidelines. The inmate patient population often has not had consistent access to healthcare before their incarceration. This provides an opportunity for nurses to see and care for various health concerns, from minor ailments to primary and atypical conditions. All care provided by is in accordance with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards of care, NJ 10-A, American Correctional Association (ACA) and Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as appropriate. Responsibilities * Perform and document medical evaluations, assessments, and treatments * Collaborate with primary care providers and other health care providers to ensure continuity * Medication Administration * Promote a therapeutic environment to ensure inmates are treated professionally, ethically, and discreetly. * Provide inmate patient education and discharge planning. Qualifications Minimum Education * Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program * Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state the facility is located. Minimum Work Experience * At least one year of LPN experience. * Previous correctional health care environment preferred. Required Skills * Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills. * Ability to make decisions independently. * Assertive, empathetic and able to provide care objectively. * Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills. * Basic computer skills. * Able to work with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel. * Experience in working with Electronic Health Records. * Ability to command the respect and confidence of inmates and staff; and philosophically committed to the objectives of the facility. * A current CPR/BLS card with demonstrated and cognitive skills is required. FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS * Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests. * May be required to work nights, weekend, and holidays. * On-call duty may be required (available to work on short notice) as per site requirement.
