General Information Press space or enter keys to toggle section visibility Work Location: Los Angeles, USA Onsite or Remote Fully On-Site Work Schedule Monday-Friday, 0730-1600 Posted Date 04/12/2024 Salary Range: $59.46 - 88.39 Hourly Employment Type 2 - Staff: Career Duration Indefinite Job # 15202 Primary Duties and Responsibilities Press space or enter keys to toggle section visibility The staff RN is a professional caregiver who provides pre-operative evaluation and medical screening of patients having anesthesia for a surgery or procedure, by reviewing and evaluating internal and external medical and other relevant documents, and conducting a pre-operative phone interview (or on-site clinical review) of the patient. The RN will apply critical thinking processes for identification and scoring of identified and potential risk factors of surgical patients, and collaborate with the surgical team for pre-operative assessment, recommendations and management. Throughout the evaluative process, the RN will teach and instruct patients on pre-operative care management and coordinate care with the physician, patient and staff. The RN is responsible for maintaining efficient patient flow, clinical assessment, planning, initiating medical interventions and diagnostic work-ups, and communicating with patient/family/physician regarding any medical issues that may hinder or prevent surgery/treatment plans. The RN will utilize problem solving, systems planning and patient care management skills in a high volume work environment, and will complete approximately 1 or more patient charts an hour. This role will participate in lectures/in-services dealing with topics concerning management of patient care. The PEPC RN supports the department's philosophy and objectives, and will also carry out all other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Press space or enter keys to toggle section visibility 3-5 years experience in an acute hospital setting/Interventional/OR area 2 years ICU or Med/Surg experience 2 continuous years of Pediatric clinical care experience within the last five years Ability to complete a Nursing History and Physical via phone interview/in person Ability to simultaneously complete nursing documentation electronically in multiple applications, while delivering excellent patient care in real time in person, over the phone, or through video technology Ability to effectively apply anesthesia screening protocols to optimize the patient for surgery Knowledge base to provide education to patients, families, and other staff regarding clinical and patient care issues Ability to implement interventions that are pertinent to goals established in the plan of care Ability to evaluate the effective use of interventions toward the attainment of established goals and to recognize the need to reassess or reset goal parameters Skill in developing a plan of care including setting goals, monitoring and documenting progress using the LEAN methodology Ability to perform repetitive tasks of computer documentation, patient interviews with the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time Ability to successfully deliver timely and accurate patient care in a work environment that utilizes operations-management tools and techniques to optimize performance (including individual performance expectations, quality assurance based on patient/customer feedback, focus on servicing efficiency, etc) Ability to effectively utilize skills in the following areas: Communication with patients and peers (active listening, empathy, rapport, written and electronic documentation); Education; Problem Solving; Customer service delivery as measured by Patient/Customer Satisfaction feedback; Ability to effectively function within, and proactively foster, a team-based work structure, based on demonstrated experience in personal adaptability/flexibility, skill development, and leadership Experience in the creation of educational teaching material for patient care/staff utilization.
