Job Title: Graduate Assistant - Mail Center Department: Business Services Reports To: Manager of Mail Center Job Type: This is a part time, exempt position. General Description: The Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting the manager of the University Mail Center in providing services to the university community. Benefits: A Graduate Assistant will receive tuition remission for any master's program offered at WWU, along with on campus room (when available) and board when Tucker Dining Hall is open. This position is a 24-month position beginning August 1, 2024. A 12-month candidate might be considered, but 24-month applicants will receive first consideration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Be knowledgeable about William Woods University by having a thorough understanding of all the University and its mission. * Work hours average 20-25 hours per week; more will be required in the absence of the Mail Center Manager. * Process incoming and outgoing mail in the university mail center. Assure proper delivery of on-campus mail. Assist customers in Mail Center with mail processing, receiving, etc. * Responsible for day-to-day office operations such as data entry, processing packages, and other operational duties. * Represent William Woods University in a professional manner. * Help maintain a clean and safe workplace. * Respect the privacy and confidentiality of student community and attention to accurate placement of mail. * BE available to work year-around including breaks unless special arrangements are made with the mail center manager. This includes winter holiday break, spring break, and summer. The mail center is closed on major holidays as listed in the staff handbook and the week between Christmas and New Years. Position Requirements: A suitable candidate must possess a bachelor's degree, must be a leader with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with people, have outstanding customer service skills and have the work ethic to complete tasks independently. Desirable qualities include flexibility, willingness to learn, and commitment to work within a team. Candidate must demonstrate accurate computer skills as well as good written and verbal skills. Candidate must be accepted into a WWU master's program. Typical Physical Demands: * Must have a driver's license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy. * Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day. * Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. * Ability to sit or stand for long periods. * Ability to speak and read English fluently. * Ability to hear. * Ability to use a computer keyboard. * Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in office and on campus. * Must be a self-starter who takes responsibilty for work load without having to be asked each time. * Be able to deal with adverse weather to make deliveries.
