Job Description:

TRUCK DRIVER I GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Operates vehicles and equipment to maintain County roads, bridges, and storm drains. ESSENTIAL TASKS include the following; other duties may be assigned. 1. Drive vehicles requiring a Class B CDL as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration 2. Maintain roads, bridges and storm drains 3. Perform debris and tree/brush trimming and removal, and water drainage 4. Operate and maintain basic equipment and tools which may include but not limited to skid steer, loader, tractor mower, chain saw and roller 5. Maintain vehicles including completing vehicle inspection reports required by Department of Transportation 6. Perform road and ground maintenance, general labor and traffic control duties as needed 7. Report to work outside of normal work hours for emergency operations 8. Perform related duties as to specific assignments 9. Any employee may be identified as Essential Personnel during emergency situations. 10. Provide service to customers by answering questions, providing information, making referrals and assuring appropriate follow-through and/or resolution 11. Communicate with managers, supervisors, co-workers, citizens, and others, maintains confidentiality; and represents the County EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. High School diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred 2. One year vehicle/equipment operation related to road maintenance* 3. Successful completion of required vehicle and equipment tests * A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualification. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1. Follows OSHA, MOSH and County safety rules and regulations 2. Write reports and other required documentation 3. Perform equipment inspection and routine maintenance and repair 4. Read and comply with relevant laws, regulations, policies and procedures 5. Operate two way radio CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 1. Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement 2. DOT (Department of Transportation) Physical Card 3. State of Maryland Flagging Certification (or must obtain within six months of employment)
