Job Description Job Description Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to based on the assigned department: OFFICE VISITS: * Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into the exam room. * Prepares the patient for exams and procedures. * Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients. * Administers medications including all types of injections, IV therapy as needed and within the scope of licensure. * Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as but not limited to: dressing wounds, performing catheterizations or applying compresses. * Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately. * Cleans and prepare medical treatment rooms for patient visits. * Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice. * Schedule follow-up appointments for patients as needed. * Communicates delays effectively when necessary. * Maintain standard precautions and implement infection control protocols. * Set and maintain sterile field if necessary for assignment in procedural areas. CHARTING: * Enters patient information into the computer accurately and in a timely manner. * Manages the physician's desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner. * Documents medications appropriately for each specialty. MISCELLANEOUS: * Provides clerical support to patients such as but not limited to making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and answering telephones. * Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels. * Must work under the supervision of the Physician or Registered Nurse. * Manages time efficiently in order to maintain the patient flow. * Effectively communicates with all team members to support a cohesive work environment. * To be compliant with required training, CPR certification and licensure. Required Qualifications: * High School diploma or equivalent * Completion of school program to become a Licensed Practical Nurse * Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of New York and/or Connecticut * Flexibility in hours and ability to cover different departments and offices as needed is required * Strong computer skills, EMR experience preferred * Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal Pay Range $26.00 to $35.00 The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
