Job Description

This position is for local residents only. Ocean & Air Export/Import Coordinator The role entails the export coordinator handling customer service and daily operations for both air/ocean divisions while meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Requires the ability to work alongside the customer to help streamline the forwarding process while maintaining compliance with all government and organizational regulations. Oversee and provide customers of potential problems with their export process and provide cost- effective solutions. The ideal candidate would have experience in the freight forwarding industry and would have excellent customer service skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to manage well under stress. This position entails being a team player. Duties and Responsibilities include: Arrange cargo pick-ups and deliveries, book freight LCL or FCL File timely and accurate data entry into export declaration (AES System) Negotiate rates with preferred ocean/air carriers and other vendors Prepare Master Bill of Lading (MBL) and House Bill of Lading(HBL), rate MBL Ensure the accuracy and completeness of customer s export documents-review and obtain any missing information Responsible for perishable shipments (Pharmaceuticals, food etc), DSP Licenses, High valued cargo Perform periodic internal audit reviews on files Maintain effective relationships with project managers, carriers, forwarders and Customs Communicating with our overseas agents to insure seamless movement of cargo, and timely responses to e-mails and rate requests Ability to prepare Letters of Credit, timely and accurately Tracking and tracing freight movement with airlines and trucking companies to ensure on time delivery Staying current with export regulations and be able to relay any changes back to the client Hazardous Material certification (preferred) Actively pursue new sales leads by discussing our various services that we offer Inform customer via e-mail or phone on any up-dates on pending shipment in a timely manner Duties and Responsibilities Import Include: Create and distribute written procedure for handling each account, including classification, valuation, customs and PGA requirements Qualified in operational clearance of Air/Ocean import shipments in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, FDA, USDA, F & W, and EPA, perishables etc. Knowledgeable on Pharmaceuticals, API s, Bulk, FDA product code builder, End User Letter s and working with the customer to establish proper FDA requirements Perform periodic internal audit reviews on all assigned brokerage files Maintain effective relationships with project managers, carriers, forwarders and Customs Communicating with our overseas agents to insure seamless movement of cargo Tracking and tracing freight movement with airlines and trucking companies to ensure on time delivery Staying current with import regulations and be able to relay any changes back to the client Review and monitor any customs rejections, CF 28 Request for information and other correspondence Actively pursue new sales leads by discussing our various services that we offer Inform customer via e-mail or phone on any up dates on pending shipment in a timely manner Ability to respond to customer and overseas agents on rate quotes in a timely fashion Must be a TEAM player Must be able to be one call once a month for AOG shipment clearances on Saturday and Sunday Qualifications Must have Cargo Wise experience minimum of 2 years 1-5 years of related experience in international trade High School Diploma Required. BA/BS preferred Highly developed organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to analyze and prioritize tasks and projects, must be organized Efficiently solve inter-company and customer issues and be able to respond promptly and professionally. Ability to classify goods in the Schedule B, have an understanding of Customs regulations Must be detail oriented, thorough and accurate. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work with demanding deadlines Proficient in Microsoft office, excel and other technical software is required H.W.St. John & Co is a full service Customs house broker located in Valley Stream, NY which is only 15 miles from JFK airport.
