Provide advanced technical security support for enterprise mainframe infrastructure systemsincluding hardware, software, and services.A1. Use advanced-level knowledge to research, install, test, and implement mainframe securityenterprise components such as hardware, storage management systems, operating systems,and other systems software.A2. Maintain and upgrade installed mainframe enterprise security hardware, operating systemand storage software, and systems software packages on an ongoing basis to remain atrecommended release levels and to resolve problems in order to maintain system stabilityA3. Use advanced-level knowledge of mainframe components for security problemdetermination techniques to resolve known problems, research potential problems, andmaintain overall system stability.A4. Develop, maintain, and communicate implementation schedules for application ofcorrective software maintenance, to resolve known problems and maintain overall systemstability.Provide direction for the use of procedures along with developing, establishing, anddocumenting security procedures for the proper use and support of mainframe hardware andsoftware components.A6. Provide oversight and direction to vendors providing mainframe security hardware andsoftware management and other infrastructure services to ensure procedures are beingfollowed and program goals achieved.A7. Work with Security and Auditors to develop and implement security maintenance, securityfixes, and sound security practices and policies that balance the need for security andaccessibility of the systems.A8. Monitor mainframe security components and make recommendations to better utilizeresources for optimal performance and cost¬ effectiveness.A9. Monitor mainframe security components for potential defects and take action to resolve theissues.A10. Lead in the development, establishment, documentation of, and testing disaster recoveryprocedures.A11. Plan for, research, upgrade, and recommend changes to system components based onagency needs, industry trends, and cost effectiveness.A12. Actively participate and lead in the development, documentation and implementation ofITmanagement best practices to ensure the quality of services delivered to customers andpartners.A13. Design, construct, maintain and produce metric reports for this area of responsibility.A14. Actively mentor and guide staff in development of problem identification and resolutionskills.A15. Actively mentor and guide staff in development of mainframe implementation, testing, andmaintaining of operating system and system software skills.20% -- B. Provide security infrastructure consulting support.B1. Meet with agency customers or other internal staff to review and understand theirrequirements as they relate to the enterprise mainframe environment.B2. Evaluate agency or internal staff needs and make recommendations regarding plannedprojects requiring enterprise shared IT infrastructure systems to enable customers to make thebest use of the system resources to meet their program goals.B3. Provide technical analysis and advice to agency customers or infrastructure areas to allowthem to successfully and effectively use the mainframe environment.B4. Analyze service requests and develop detailed technical designs, as needed and withinstandards, to meet their objectives.B5. Participate in and at times lead statewide or enterprise task forces or committees workingon shared IT infrastructure system related issues.B6.
