Stay for our embodiment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.Job Responsibilities:Assess risk in proposals and recommendations, and advise project managers and staffDirect and prepare proposals, investigations, and design level reports for a variety of projects.Direct and lead construction material testing services, including earthwork observation and special inspectionsMentor and supervise junior geologists and foster their professional development.Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and governmental personnel, ensuring that all geotechnical concerns are addressed comprehensively.Direct and supervise subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, geotechnical data interpretation, and geotechnical instrumentation monitoring programs to ensure a high-quality, timely, and within-budget delivery of the projects.Provide support for business development activities by fostering and maintaining long-term client relationships and developing a client base for providing high-level geotechnical engineering services.Play an active role in professional associations and contribute to the state-of-practice and research of engineering geology through technical presentations and publications.Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Engineering Geology.Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with an emphasis on geotechnical design projects, geotechnical field investigation, and construction supervision.The successful candidate should be a licensed Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist in the state of California or have ability to obtain.Experience and familiarity with the local geology and local engineering practice required.Technical Requirements: Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based workingExperience in construction oversight for foundation construction and earthwork observation required.Demonstrated ability to lead geotechnical projects and manage teams of geologists and geotechnical engineers.Experience in engineering geology methods that assist in the development of shallow and deep foundation design recommendations, liquefaction analysis, slope stability analysis, ground improvement, wall design and retaining structures, grading/earthwork, and soil and construction materials testingExperience in managing and performing geotechnical investigations, landslide investigations, and fault investigationsAbility to perform technical reviews of geologic hazard and geotechnical reports prepared by professional staffWorking knowledge of reviewing geotechnical computer software resultsOther miscellaneous qualities:Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving recordMust be able to pass a background checkAtlas EEOC StatementAtlas is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
