Sets up and start all mixing tanks and blenders. Obtains and understands all documentation for making batches. Ensures correct ingredients are used for each batch. This is an hourly position. GENERAL PURPOSE:Quality technicians perform a wide variety of duties.RESPONSIBILITIES:Ability to calculate percentages, read and comprehend weights and measurements and perform basic mathOperates fork trucks and hand trucks to procure needed raw materials in drums or totes and weigh them out according to the amounts on the batch recordProcess ingredients according to the prescribed formula following detailed instructions on mixing and blending ingredients for personal lubricantsTransfers product from the mixing tanks to holding tanks and documents the same. Use scales to measure chemical that are in small quantitiesMonitors batching instructions during the entire operation to ensure no deviation from specified proceduresMonitors agitators to mix ingredients for the specified timeObserves mixing speeds, adjusts mixing as necessary to achieve desired resultsCompletes and verifies manufacturing documentation as requiredCompletes Quality Control reports for appearance, odor, pH and viscosity for all batchesReviews and complies with Standard Operating ProceduresIdentifies and communicates discrepancies with materials, products or equipmentCleans and sanitizes the work area, equipment and utensilsCross-trains in other processing department functions such as helping in the warehouse to issue product or load and unload trucksQUALIFICATIONS:Education:A High School diploma or GED. Associate degree is desirable. Technicians looking to advance in this career may choose to secure certification from the American Society for Quality.Experience:Computer skills are necessary with experience in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be extremely organized, detail oriented and accurate, and have the ability to multi task.
