Job Description:

The Technical Superintendent will monitor technical performance of assigned vessels, prepare dockings, write specifications, initiate and supervise all necessary maintenance and inspections. Work in line with KOTUG technical standards and provide feedback for further improvement. Prepare, manage and maintain work in- and on time, budget and quality.The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.Experience and Competencies:Marine engineer with a minimum of 5-10 years relevant work experienceExtended knowledge of maintenance methods and execution, Class and Flag state certification and HSEQ policies and guidelinesExcellent analytical skills; keeps the overview, is able to prioritize and gets to the core of the problemOrganizational, planning and time management skills.Ability to provide leadership to chief engineers, Captains and subcontractors; takes accountability.Good communication skillsFlexibleFluent in English, both written and spokenDuties and Responsibilities: Quality assurance, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE):Keeps him or herself actively up-to-date to QHSE manual and procedures.Ensure safe and healthy execution of activities own department.Monitors safety performance of subcontracted work on ships and or yards.In case of doubts or anything is unclear, speak up-communicate or ask for a time out.Annual technical budgetPrepare dockings, give input in Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Planned Maintenance (PM) budget for country.Monitor and report on the budget.Minor and major Maintenance, including modifications:Preparation of full detailed specifications for all subcontracted work.Contribution to delivery and supervision of subcontracted work, including authorization of purchase orders and managing overruns.Monitoring technical and financial performance of assigned ships:Execute regular inspection of vessel status.Monitor and steer technical Performance and work in close cooperation with Captains and Chief Engineers.Report on technical and financial performance.Ensure continuous improvement process.Inform and motivate local Port EngineersGive feedback on performance and development goals of chief engineers and captains to Director Operations and Corporate Technical Manager.Second line technical support:Provision of second line technical support and advise to Chief Engineers.Class and Flag state:Monitor Class and Flag state requirements.Prepare, facilitate, supervise and administrate required surveys and certificates.Release ships after certification.Insurance:Build up proper insurance case on behalf of ship owner (e.g. invite Class Survey, independent surveyor, collect data, etc.).Technical documentation:Administrate and file technical documentation.Procurement goods and services:Define in cooperation with procurement requested goods and services.Preparation and submission of purchase orders.Control invoices of subcontractors.Develop and maintain optimal relationships with relevant suppliers and subcontractors.Logistics and warehousing:Ensure structured and efficient warehousing.Ensure efficient logistics from and to fleet and between ports.Ensure economic and efficient stock / spare part control.KOTUG technical standard:Mentor and coach junior technical staff.Create awareness for KOTUG technical standard.Signalize deviations, give feedback to technical staff and management.Emergencies:Support and take all necessary actions in case of emergencies.
