Job DescriptionOur Hardware Engineering team is looking for a passionate electrical engineer to help us expand the Emporia Energy hardware ecosystem. The ideal candidate will show strong ownership of hardware projects from initial design trades thru high volume production. As a senior member of our team they will be expected to work closely with peers on cross disciplinary projects and provide mentorship for junior members of the team as needed. Throughout, they will demonstrate the strong analysis, design, and test skills required to produce reliable, low-cost hardware that our customers expect.ResponsibilitiesHelp define product architectures and development strategies to optimize the safety, cost, performance, and time-to-market of the Emporia hardware ecosystem.Own the design, simulation, prototyping, and validation for various engineering projects including 10-100kW EV charger systems for consumer and commercial applications.Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers as needed.Support, from an engineering perspective, the transition from new product development into high volume manufacturing.Work closely with a team of passionate engineers to ensure we develop exceptional hardware products - participate and/or lead design reviews and trades as needed, or lend a hand with testing and debug as required. We are a small team requiring a high level of collaboration and teamwork to ensure we achieve our goals. Required Qualifications & Skills5 or more years of experience developing complex products as a power electronics engineer, electrical engineer, or related roleBS in electrical engineering or related fieldExceptionally strong foundation of expertise in the design and analysis of analog, digital, and mixed signal electrical systems Familiarity with both AC and DC power system basics, including strong understanding of switching converters, inverters, and AC power distributionExperience designing products for compliance with regulatory standards in fields such as consumer electronics, aviation/aerospace, medical, or similarElectrical hardware lab equipment expert - hands on engineering requiredExpertise with schematic and layout in at least one industry standard toolExpertise with at least one modeling and simulation-aided analysis tool chain using components such as PLECs, Python, SPICE, SimPower, MATLAB, etc.Working knowledge of renewable energy related concepts such as lithium ion batteries, solar arrays, general power conversion/regulation/distribution, and power fault protectionFamiliar with scripting using Python, Javascript, Visual Basic, or equivalentDemonstrated experience managing workload and project deliverablesStrong writing, interpersonal, and communication skillsDesired Qualifications & SkillsMS/PhD in electrical engineering or related fieldExperience designing, debugging, and manufacturing Level 2, V2x EV chargersExperience designing and debugging for electrical and safety compliance standards such as FCC, CE, UL/ETL, etc.Experience designing and shipping high-volume consumer productsOn-site factory experience with contract manufacturersFamiliarity with Altium DesignerExperience writing embedded softwareAbility to automate lab instruments with Python
