As a $64bn+ Hedge Fund, it's important that it's as secure as possible. You'll be joining an engineer heavy business, so first up you'll need to be an engineer at heart.Most engineers here, whether security or software, come from a Computer Science background and write code for fun inside and outside of work. Python therefore is an essential tool for this job and many others within. This is pretty much at software engineer level, even for security engineers.You're going to be the first security engineer on the ground in NYC, working with the international team, but it's worth noting that you will be on your own outside of UK hours. The Head of Security is very keen to help you out, but you will essentially be the Lead Security Engineer in NYC.There are already numerous protocols and measures in place to stop threats, and most are caught in these and the firewall. However, those that do get through are of course extremely important. Your main task is to respond to, manage and prevent these kinds of threats.This is a "built first" environment and new things are being put into production every week. So, you'll need to be on your toes, keeping up with the dev team to secure what they're implementing. New Kubernetes cluster, how would you go about securing it?Because of the nature of this role, it's likely that along with the CompSci background and expert level Python skills that you've been working in a smaller, technical environment. There's not a huge volume to deal with, but small, complex issues that will take a lot of work to prevent. Hopefully, you get the picture there.Your threat detection skills will be tested throughout the interview process also.You'll be paid extremely well, with a starting salary in the range of $200,000-300,000 and bonuses that could be as high as 100% of your salary in the best years.
