Likely to extend multi-year/option to hire.Client: A major global corporation and a leader in their industry operating over 350 manufacturing plants, earning annual revenue over $19 B, and employing over 15,000.Find out if this opportunity is a good fit by reading all of the information that follows below.Overview:Plan, conduct and coordinate packaging process engineering functions covering all aspects of material handling and unit process operations as applied to food production. This individual needs to have experience in line balancing, equipment specification, vendor coordination, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing. This postion will entail engineering the entire packaging line design from can/bag through palletizing and stretch wrapping. Utilize expertise in all aspects of food processing technology in terms of production systems, quality/sanitation, equipment design and application.Role:Provide packaging engineering process design and review for capital projects including detailed phases of the engineering work, related documentation and field supportCoordinate work by outside consultants and suppliers and apply broad knowledge of standards, principles and practices in packaging specialties.Support divisional continuous improvement efforts and technical assistance to operating facilities, including investigation and analysis of problem areas and opportunities for packaging and process enhancements.Apply expert understanding of line balancing, equipment specification, vendor coordination, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.Assist in the development and modification of department technical guidelines, standards and specifications.Collaborate internally and externally in a team environment to develop, industrialize, and launch new packaging, quality improvements, compliance, and productivity cost savings.Maintain/develop packaging specifications & packaging safety documentation.Ensure that the packaging solutions comply with global specification guidelines, operates efficiently in production and provides adequate protection through the distribution system in a cost effective manner.Qualifications:BS in Packaging Engineering, Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar degree is a plus.5 - 10+ years' experience in packaging in a fast-moving consumer goods food production environment.Experienced in line balancing, equipment specification, vendor coordination, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing. Experienced engineering an entire packaging line design from can/bag through palletizing/stretch wrapping. Capital project management/coordination experience.Ability to travel 15 - 30%.
