Job Title: Environmental SpecialistBelow covers everything you need to know about what this opportunity entails, as well as what is expected from applicants.Job Summary: As an Environmental Specialist for our shipyard operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring day-to-day regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. Working closely with the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for managing data, conducting inspections, and overseeing hazardous waste management activities. This position requires a strong regulatory background, exceptional record-keeping skills, and a willingness to work hands-on in the field.Key Responsibilities:Conduct daily inspections of shipyard facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.Manage data related to environmental monitoring, including recording and analyzing data from filtration systems, and sampling activities.Assist in the development and implementation of environmental management programs to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability.Manage hazardous waste collection, storage, and disposal activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.Conduct weekly and monthly inspections of hazardous waste storage areas, containers, and labeling to ensure proper handling and storage.Assist in the operation and maintenance of filtration systems and other environmental control equipment.Work hands-on in the field, performing tasks such as container management, sampling, and general environmental management activities.Maintain accurate records of inspections, data collection, and regulatory compliance activities.Assist the Environmental Manager in conducting environmental assessments and audits as needed.Collaborate with other team members to identify opportunities for improvement in environmental compliance and waste management practices.Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance or a related field, with a strong background in regulatory requirements and record-keeping.Knowledge of environmental regulations relevant to shipyard operations, such as the Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.Willingness to work in a hands-on capacity, including performing physical tasks and working outdoors in various weather conditions.Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and regulatory agencies.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications used for data management and record-keeping.Valid driver's license and the ability to operate company vehicles as needed.This position offers the opportunity to grow into a more senior role within our environmental management team.
