Attention to detailA strong ability to stay focusedA strong ability for mathYou are Detail-OrientedConfident in dealing with peopleGood time management skillsWell- presentedLifelong learnerAccountabilities:Gather information on projects and work to be performed by reviewing documents to identify scope of work, manpower needs and costs, equipment and materials costs and time restraints.Attend job walks to identify scope of work to be performed, as well as other physical and environmental factors which may affect the bid.Reviews bid packages in detail including bid documents, plans, blueprints, and drawings to estimate all costs of work to be performed.Obtain cost bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; and negotiating prices.Prepare accurate and timely job cost estimates and bid proposals for small to medium sized projects.Resolve cost discrepancies of items purchased and vendor/estimated amount.Assist with project control administrative duties, such as: Open jobs, Responding to Requests for Information (RFI), Change Orders (CO's), Schedule Updates, Billing, Job Close-Out, Purchase Order Close OutPerform Take-Off's from drawings and blueprints.May direct the efforts of an Estimator II or I in assisting to gather and process information received so that an estimate can be prepared.Frequent travel throughout the region required.May perform other duties as assigned by the manager.Preferred Requirements: Ability to work in an organized manner and accurately analyze information.Excellent estimating skills in heavy industrial projects, chemical production facilities, pipeline (including oil & gas, water, sewer, storm, dry utilities), power plants, water & wastewater treatment, pump stations, groundwater treatment facilities, civil, mechanical, structural steel, excavation, shoring & structural concrete. Brownfield and greenfield. Ability to perform simple mathematics, addition, subtraction, division.Ability to use estimating software and personal knowledge to develop accurate budgets and bid proposals.Ability to develop and maintain positive vendor relationships to negotiate pricing, payment and deliver options.Must be able to create and provide timely, clear, and complete estimates and progress reports to clients and management.Experience with MS Project or Premavera scheduling software, and advanced Excel spreadsheets is a plus.Experience with Hard Dollar, HCSS, Bid2Win or Ineight preferred.Effective written and oral communication skills to clearly outline bid parameters, costs, estimates, and planning.Travels within the region to client and job sites for job walks.Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, engineering, or construction management preferred.Proficiency with excel and word, creating documents, worksheets, and data analysis.5 years or more experience estimating industrial, oil & gas or civil construction projects.
