I am sourcing candidates for an open IT System Engineer position that will be a long-term contract to hire position that requires candidate to be onsite 5 days a week. Please make sure you read the following details carefully before making any applications.An Information Technology Systems Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of IT systems and networks. The IT Systems Engineer collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure the seamless operation of IT systems and contributes to the organization's overall technological strategy.Systems Design and Implementation:Design, deploy, and maintain IT systems including servers, networks, storage, and virtualization infrastructure.Evaluate existing systems and propose improvements or upgrades to enhance performance, scalability, and security.Implement new technologies to meet business requirements and industry standards.Network Management:Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network traffic to ensure reliability and security.Implement network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, malware, and other cyber threats.Server Administration:Administer server environments including Windows, Linux, or Unix-based systems.Install, configure, and maintain server software and applications.Monitor server performance, apply patches and updates, and troubleshoot issues as needed.Infrastructure Automation and Scripting:Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.Implement configuration management tools for managing IT infrastructure at scale.Continuously evaluate and adopt new automation technologies to optimize workflows and reduce manual intervention.Security and Compliance:Implement and enforce security best practices to protect IT systems and data assets.Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize downtime in case of system failures or disasters.Test backup systems and procedures regularly to ensure data integrity and recoverability.Coordinate with relevant teams to conduct drills and simulations for business continuity planning.Collaboration and Documentation:Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders.Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff members as needed.Qualifications and Skills:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining IT systems and networks.Proficiency in server administration (Windows, Linux/Unix), network management, and virtualization technologies.Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, protocols, and best practices.Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Relevant certifications such as CCNA, MCSA, RHCE, CISSP, etc., are advantageous.
