Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled computer engineer or developer to join our Agile team at TransAstra, a space technology company located near Sylmar, California. We have exciting development products in several areas including optical sensing (Space Domain Awareness), spacecraft propulsion, and orbital debris removal. We are focused on developing state-of-the-art hardware and software to support our groundbreaking projects. The candidate we seek will be instrumental in leading our software development efforts, ensuring our projects are marked by their efficiency, reliability, and scalability. Check below to see if you have what is needed for this opportunity, and if so, make an application asap.Duties and Responsibilities:Design and execute software architectures for telescope networks and space-related applications, ensuring they meet the requirements for scalability, performance, and reliability.Implement DevOps practices to enhance the efficiency of our software development lifecycle, from coding and deployment to maintenance and updates.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate software solutions with hardware components.Develop, maintain, and optimize software using Python, C++, Rust, and others, within Linux, Windows, and macOS programming environments.Participate in agile project management, adapting to fast-paced developments in space technology with reasonable autonomy.Troubleshoot and resolve issues in software and system operations, ensuring the robustness and reliability of electromechanical systems.Required Qualifications/Experience:B.S. or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Rust, C++, with a strong background in Linux programming environments.Experience with Kubernetes and DevOps.Familiarity with version control systems, preferably GitLab.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of handling complex technical challenges.U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder due to export-controlled nature of the work.Willingness to work on-site at our laboratory near Sylmar, California, for a minimum of 40 hours per week.Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Additional Desired Qualifications/Experience:Advanced degree in a related field.High level of expertise with Kubernetes, DevOps, and IT infrastructureFamiliarity with agile development methodologies and software security best practices.Demonstrated experience in software architecture design, particularly within the space industry or similar high-technology fields.Familiarity with orbital mechanics and astronomy.Experience with Field Programable Gate Arrays (FPGAs)Compensation and Benefits:Competitive salary with stock options.A high-performance work culture that fosters innovation and collaboration.Flexible vacation policy to support work-life balance.401(k) retirement plan and health insurance.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.Hiring Range$50,000"”$200,000 USD
