Sr. Project EngineerThe following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.Greater Baltimore, MD AreaHybrid (3 days on-site/2 days remote)The T&S (Transmission & Substation) Regional Engineering team at one of our largest utility clients is executing a regional project plan that is focused on the execution of design and engineering deliverables for system performance programs. The project involves combining system performance program work at all transmission and distribution substations. The program is focused on driving the execution of design and engineering deliverables specific for each substation. This multifaceted program has numerous workstreams and is focused on enhancing substation performance, protection and control system performance and distribution system performance.The Project Engineer will be the facilitator in resolving complex issues in several technical areas requiring advance knowledge and experience. The successful candidate will perform engineering responsibilities providing guidance and direction to both internal staff and external consulting engineers and designers. If you are detail-oriented, naturally inquisitive, and eager to work in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply!Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline with 6+ yrs. of electrical engineering experience.o Master of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer is a plus!• Experience with T&D (Transmission & Distribution) Engineering.• Knowledge of substation engineering designs, standards, principles, and practices.• Experience designing protection & control facilities for substations, including protective relaying, SCADA and telecommunication facilities.• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.• Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise to substation, high voltage, protection and control engineering and design for facilities covering voltage classes 13.8 kV through 230 kV.• Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise.• Experience designing substation upgrades to replace aging assets is a plus!• Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.Your Responsibilities Include:• Design substation system performance plans and design plans for new substation build-outs.• Design distribution system performance plans.• Leads the work activities of project teams and others on the implementation of large specialized technical projects and/or programs in order to develop design plans, studies, proposals, commissioning plans to support safely energizing and placing major utility and customer systems and equipment On System.• Support Annunciator Replacement: required to improve the system reliability via the replacement of aging infrastructure for which expansion and replacement parts are no longer supported.• Leading scope development activities for contractor onboarding.• Supporting development of engineering schedules and estimates - driving Design &Engineering(D&E) activities identified in schedule• Support capital improvements involving high voltage equipmento Circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, switches, reactive assets.• Evaluates complex technical issues that require highly specialized knowledge in very specific areas and recommends actions or programs for their resolution which may necessitate the review/evaluation of engineering design documents.• Participates in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in area of company interest.• Participates in department/project management, planning, and monitor performance for the accomplishment of committed results.
