(pronounced Mow-voo)The missionThe ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ENGINEER is an integral person in helping our customer's vision for an automated storage solution from Movu US come to life. The core objectives are to support Sales and Engineering during the pre-sale phase by answering questions on system integration and to support project execution by designing, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting product implementation and system integration.Solutions: Fully automated storage solutions including pallet shuttles (atlas), tote shuttles (escala), as well as automated mobile robots (ifollow), our new picking robot (eligo), and ancillary systems such as conveyors and lifts.Customers: End users are located throughout the United States and Canada. We work with many of the leading integrators as our Sales partners.As our ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ENGINEER, you...support Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Commissioning by sharing your expertise of the final installation and system integrationsupport the creation of the functional description specifications regarding the installation of electrical equipment and the commissioning of controlsdraft documentation such as SOPs and contribute to creating manualsdevelop and design electrical cabinetscreate schematics and network diagramsdesign controls algorithms and safety systemsprogram device communication of pallet conveyance and pallet inspection equipmenttest and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems and processeswork closely with R&Dsource external vendors for materialslead engineering and automation teams through concept planning, configuration, and developmentcontribute to the creation of risk assessment documents that identify hazards in a systemoptimize the system by offering simulation supportsupport the Sales Engineering team with product testingcontribute to the mechanical system layout drawings regarding all electrical and controls specifications including cable routingcontribute to the development of test plans alongside the Commissioning Teammake Full Load Amps calculationsensure UL listed components are selected and cabinet is assembled compliant to such standardsbe present on-site at First Power Up to make sure everything is operational after rack installation and to make sure everything is functional before our robots are commissionedbe present on-site when commissioning is in final stages to prepare the Movu system for handover to the end-customerperform Site Acceptance TestingThis is how we know you're up for the jobMultiple years of experience with controls and electrical engineering of custom automationBachelor's or Master's degree in Automation, Robotics, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or Mechatronics EngineeringPLC and HMI Programming experience (we use Beckhoff, but experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, etc. is just fine)Experience with automation controls, monitoring systems, safety area scanners and safety controllersAbility to install, configure, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systemComfortable using 2D (required) and 3D (nice to have) CAD software for design of electrical diagrams and schematicsExperience with ePlan or comparable software would be the cherry on topWilling and able to travel to customer sites; initially at an average of 50%, usually no longer than 2 weeks at a time; throughout the United States and occasionally to Canada. The travel percentage is expected to decrease to about 30% within 12 months. We're happy to elaborate on that in an interviewFor onboarding and training, travel to our headquarters in Belgium (usually no more than 2 weeks at a time)We work closely with our European colleagues. The morning hours are the most important so we can connect with them while our business hours overlap across time zones.
