We eliminate barriers to entry for people to begin sourcing their produce sustainably using our on-site Micro-Farms.With this new hire, the software team will be three people, dynamic individuals responsible for an IoT firmware application, mobile app, and supporting backend.Software Engineer Job Description:We are looking for a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer (depending on experience level) who is primarily experienced with back-end development, and who is versatile, dynamic, and interested in supporting on the front-end, in firmware, and in data visualization. You'll work on many different types of projects and work collaboratively with many others at the company, such as hardware engineers, customer success, horticulturists, etc.Audit and help scale our existing AWS/ECS-hosted, Django backendBuild new functionality and expand APIs to increase our visibility into our fleet of farms, and improve our customers' experienceHelp to identify software priorities and goals by talking to stakeholders at Babylon and/or customersSupport the development of our React Native Mobile app, which is used to communicate required farming actions to our customers and farm operatorsSupport the development and maintenance of our embedded python firmware applicationSupport the development and maintenance of our fleet visualization and dashboard applicationSupport the maintenance and improvement of our DevOps infrastructureExecute the full software development life cycleEvaluate user feedbackSupport and engage with a light sprint-style team structureEnsure procedural improvements after problems occurDevelop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions to present to other developers and other teamsRequirements:4-10+ years relevant industry software experience4-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experienceCloud, docker, AWS experienceExperience with test-driven developmentExperience with relational databases (e.g MySQL)Strong knowledge of developing in PythonGitNice to haves:Working knowledge of firmware, embedded systems, sensorsExperience with observabilityExperience with security practices across cloud, mobile, and webExperience with agile developmentExperience in high growth, IoT companyExperience in B2B SaaSDesired Skills and Traits:Extreme ownership and self-motivation.
