We are driven to innovate with a clear purpose in mind: to enhance the eating and drinking experience, nourishing the people and communities we serve.The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing day to day function of the Quality Management System within our manufacturing and new product development areas. Working closely with a cross-functional operations and supply chain team, the Quality Engineer will identify and implement initiatives through operational leaders and suppliers that improve processes and build system efficiencies, as well as execute APQP for new products. This position is mainly focused internally on operations and new product development and requires majority of work to be done on-site in support of manufacturing operations while some remote work may be permitted based on conditions.Essential FunctionsEnhance and improve the quality of the company's products and services by establishing, maintaining, and optimizing an effective quality management system, assuring compliance with customer requirements.Implement problem solving tools, prevention methods, quality-at-the-source, and continual improvement techniques such as change control, inspection processes, NCR (nonconforming reporting), SPC (statistical process control), deviation request process and calibration.Applies APQP procedures and techniques for new product development programs, such as implementation of production part approval process (PPAP/FAV's), inspection plans to support component part qualification, Measurement system analysis (MSA) activities, and DFMA review.Generate and maintain PFMEA and Control Plans for assigned production areas.Generate and maintain electronic travelers for assigned production areas.Generate and maintain electronic layered process audits for assigned production areas.Works in conjunction with procurement team in selecting/developing the supply chain.Participates in reviews of new product designs for "quality of design," conformance to customer requirements, and opportunities for improvement. Provides DFM input relative to supplier capabilities.Lead targeted process improvements for production process controls and develop in-line and end of line test process by collaborating with design and manufacturing engineering functions.Represent Quality during Lean Daily Management Meetings - Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost. Responsible for reporting daily on Quality issues from Customer, Internal, and Supplier.Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.Utilize the corrective action system to analyze and correct nonconforming conditions and complaints by coordinating and leading cross-functional teams in problem solving methods such as 8D and A3, and tools such as Ishikawa/Fishbone, 5 Why, and Causal Tree Analysis.Investigate all customer complaints and interface with customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.Compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activitiesActively lead and coach product and other internal cross-functional project teams to analyze, design and implement end to end processes, facilitating continuous process improvement.Skills & Abilities: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing/Production Engineering, or Engineering Technology.Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, near equivalent environments such as military operations function are acceptable.Experience in NPD/NPI, automotive, electronics or electromechanical manufacturing environment preferred.Minimum 2 years working in a Quality positionMinimum 2 years working with elements of APQP (such as Interrelationship Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, Inspection Plans, Measurement System Analysis).Experience conducting and/or supporting internal and external quality audits.Must be able to effectively communicate, influence and train co-workers, customers, and suppliers in USA and abroad in the operation of the Quality Management System.Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
