Typical projects will include power converters, energy storage systems, battery management systems, etc. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of developing such systems and launching them into production.You will be expected to demonstrate a level of expertise in power electronics design that matches or exceeds the expertise of customers. Consult on system architectures, assess technical requirements and competencies needed during quoting and oversee design progressions during product developments. Mentor and lead others in the organization to build team members design capability.LOCATIONThis role will be based on-site at the St. Petersburg, FL - Gandy location.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESLead designs of power conversion products from requirements development to manufacturing transfer.Develop product requirements from customer input.Apply applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.Select key components with an emphasis on cost reduction.Capture schematics and supervise layout engineers.Perform design analysis, including DFMEA, worst case circuit analysis, and simulations.Develop test plans against customer requirements.Debug prototype units using standard lab equipment.Execute verification test plan using standard lab equipment.Write manufacturing test specifications.Represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical customer discussions.Maintain industry leading knowledge of the latest power conversion trends.Perform design reviews.Provide guidance to junior engineers.Recommend projects to develop Jabil capabilities, potentially resulting in patents, technical publications, or white papers.EDUCATION AND WORK HISTORY REQUIREMENTSA bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required. A masters degree or PhD is preferred.At least 12+ years of relative experience in electrical hardware design is required.Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSHigh power (>1kW) power converter design, such as DC/DC, AC/DC, and DC/AC inverters.High voltage design (>240VAC).Circuit analysis of power converter topologies.Debug and testing using standard lab equipment.Testing to regulatory compliance standards such as IEC61000-4-x.Successful transfer to manufacturing and commercial product launches.Schematic capture process using at least one ECAD tool, such as Altium, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Xpedition.DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIESSafety standards: UL60730 and/or UL1998.ESS standards: UL1741, UL9540, UL1973.SPICE, Matlab/Octave, MathCAD.Simulation tools such as the Ansys suite.Circuit analysis of analog circuits, such as sensors, op amps, and ADCs.Industrial rated product design, such as UL508, IEC61131, etc.High volume manufacturing.Safety standards: UL60730 and/or UL1998.SPICE, Matlab/Octave, MathCAD.
