Alaant Workforce Solutions is partnering with Saratoga County, NY to fill a Public Health Engineer role.Qualifications, skills, and all relevant experience needed for this role can be found in the full description below.The Public Health Engineer will be responsible for the planning, administration, and performance of the public health program. The work entails advising public officials or individuals on situations requiring professional public health engineering expertise including measures for improvement and compliance with legal requirements and assisting in the promotion of public health through the application of environmental health practices.Hours and Benefits for the Public Health Engineer: Monday- Friday normal business hoursSalary is between $86,815 - $112,693 based on experience.Excellent benefits and retirement package!Work in a collaborative team environment.Responsibilities for the Public Health Engineer: Provide oversight of the operation of the Environmental Health Division by monitoring the activities of and providing technical assistance to Public Health Specialists and Technicians relative to a variety of laws, rules, and codes.Investigate, report on, and make recommendations concerning public water supplies, sewage systems, bathing beaches and swimming pools, stream pollution, sanitary conditions of camps, hotels or boarding houses, food, restaurants, and general sanitation.Respond to and conduct investigations into hazardous material and oil spills etc.Confer with local officials relative to public health engineering problems.Review subdivision plans to determine compliance with state environmental health standards.Maintain relationships with both state and federal agencies concerning environmental and sanitary engineering programs.Represent the Health Department on important matters.May instruct local plant operators in water and sewage chemistry and bacteriology as applied in controlling the operation of water works and sewage treatment plants.Requirements for the Public Health Engineer: Bachelor's degree in engineeringA Professional Engineer License in NYS is highly desirable in lieu of a PE license will consider a master's degree with 2 years of professional experience or a bachelor's degree with 3 years of professional experience.Must be able to work cross-functionally with different disciplines.Must have a valid driver's license.
