SUMMARY:Before applying for this role, please read the following information about this opportunity found below.Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Health and Medical Services, the Medical Director (Chief Medical Officer) is responsible for all services, including pediatric and psychiatric services delivered by Bluestone Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital. Specifically, the Medical Director shall provide the clinical and administrative medical oversight of a twelve-bed child and adolescent psychiatric hospital and shall ensure that medial services at the hospital are provided in a manner that is consistent with state and federal regulations and in compliance with accreditation standards. Further, this individual will be responsible for contributing to quality improvement initiatives and for informing privileging and competency assessment in collaboration with other members of the medical staff. The Medical Director will oversee compliance with medical bylaws and will inform the orientation process for new medical staff. Moreover, the Medical Director will clinically supervise the prescribing staff and the Nursing Director. The Medical Director will also assign prescribers on-call duties and will provide back up on call services (via telephone) as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Provide psychiatric direction and administration including, but not limited to, contribute to medical and psychiatric policy and procedural guidelines as needed. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, in collaboration with the Director of Health and Medical Services.Serves as a member of the medical staff and helps set, define and uphold the Bylaws and Rules and RegulationsProvides clinical oversight to all hospital operations.Provide clinical supervision to staff prescribers as needed.Lead the medical team in determinations related to privileging and competency evaluation.Oversee rounds and the discussion of complex patients on a weekly basis.Provide patient specific and system specific consultation to advance the medical services provided at the hospital.Provide clinical supervision to staff psychiatrists and advanced practice nurses, as well as clinical oversight for the Nursed Executive and director of Clinical Services.Ensure the prescribing staff is regularly updated about best practices in psychiatric care.Determine training needs of medical staff including but not limited to: pharmacology specific to the population, risk management, adherence to medical bylaws and infection control.Contribute to design and implementation of protocols for all-staff training, risk management, environmental safety and pharmacy services.Coordinate on-call (telephone) duties of prescribers.Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental and infection control standards.OTHER DUTIES:All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards including Basic Life Skills or Advanced Life Skills as applicable.Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client's treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.Other duties as assigned by management.QUALIFICATIONS:1. Education: M.D. or D. O. degree from an accredited United States medical school required. Successful completion of residency in Psychiatry with fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.2. Licensure: Current Ohio Medical Practitioner License. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing.3. Availability:Averaging 2-4 hours per week for Bluestone.
