This business development role will manage a large portfolio of corporate, business, and foundation donors and prospects; assist in the formulation of strategies to solicit operating gifts from corporations, businesses, and foundations; identify, research, and cultivate prospects; and manage stewardship of corporate and foundation donors.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelops, manages, and executes corporate, business, and foundation-giving programs and strategies.Assists in developing and executing a strategy of approach for each prospect, involving development staff, leadership, and the Board of Directors.Works with a team to develop and maintain a system for corporate partnership tracking and engagement across the organization.Researches and identifies new corporations, businesses, and foundations.Secures new and renewed funding through the direct solicitation of corporations and businesses to help meet annual corporate fiscal goals.Solicits operating, projectprogram specific gifts and sponsorships from corporations, businesses, and foundations.Works closely with organization's leaders to maximize opportunities and ensure recognition of donors in the community.Creates individual goals for each corporate partner in their portfolio based on the history of giving and their level of knowledge of the donor's potential.Develops a system to ensure proper stewardship of corporate donations and continued engagement of corporate partners.Develops strategies for corporate solicitationsbusiness development including event sponsorships packages, advertising, service drives, cause-related marketing opportunities, public relations, and co-branding activities.Oversees resource development through corporate matching gift and employee giving programs.Other duties as assigned.Position RequirementsBachelor's degree in business, communications, or related study.Five+ years of experience working in a business development role.Experience working with businesscommercial customers or prospects in either a for-profit or nonprofit environment.Demonstrated direct solicitation experience; ability to articulate the case for support so that individuals buy into the visionmissiongoals to secure gifts and support.Self-starter, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent communications, interpersonal, and customer service skills; comfortable with public speaking.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to relate effectively and professionally with other staff, volunteers, agency representatives, and the public.Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed and work evenings or weekends for specific events.Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship. Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThis position operates primarily in an office setting. The position requires sitting at a desk and in meetings for long periods of time and involves extensive computer work with frequent interruptions. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position will regularly be in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, both hot and cold. This position requires someone who is mobile and who can hear and watch for traffic and the normal hazards of a warehouse environment. This position may require traveling during the day and responding to organizational needs outside of normal working hours.
