Mission of the Role (What you'll be doing):The HR Manager reporting to the Location President, with a dotted line to the Corporate VP of HR, is a key leader in our Newark location, initially focused on payroll management and HR operations. This role is instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with HR laws, and contributing to positive employee relations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll and HR operations, as well as broader HR experience in a union environment. Main responsibilities include but not limited to employee relations, labor relations, change management, recruitment support, benefits administration, and HR policy enforcement. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, a solid understanding of HR laws and regulations, and the ability to foster a positive work environment. Adept at handling employee inquiries, conducting interviews, and implementing HR programs. The HR Manager is a crucial link between management and employees, contributing to the overall success of the organization.Key Duties & Accountabilities (Primary responsibilities & quantifiable measurements):Payroll and HR OperationsProcess payroll every week accurately and on-time.Ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulationsAct as the main point of contact for all payroll-related inquiriesHands on execution of HR operations, including benefits administration, policy compliance and performance managementProvide a systematic, high-quality onboarding experience for new hires aligned with role specific learning plans to accelerate productivity and positive experiences as a SupplyOne employee.Employee & Labor RelationsFoster positive employee relations by addressing inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies, and ensuring a positive work environment.Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, employee relations and performance management issues, providing quality advice and service to employeesCommunicate (escalate) and resolve employee issues immediately to an acceptable, timely and appropriate resolution.Conduct workplace investigations, disciplinary and termination procedures according to SupplyOne guidelines.Maintain accurate records and document all service and performance related activities and discussions.Maintain employee and workplace privacy.Schedule, deliver and track relevant employee compliance training.Employment PracticesMaintain ongoing relationships with temp agencies to source qualified candidates.Partner with the RPO to assess candidates and ensure proper interviewing processes.Facilitate the employee review process.Ensure follow-through on development and skills need utilizing SupplyOne resources, and improvement plan commitments to ensure they are completed on time and in full.Create actionable development plans for all employees in conjunction with management team annually (minimum).Prepare termination and severance letters.Implement and administer employee policies. Ensure each employee is aware of employee policies annually, communicating updates as they occur.Proactively developrefine employee-entered administrative procedures and processes.Ensure compliance with HR laws and regulationsLead the updating of and creation of policies as necessaryOtherPlay a key role in supporting HR initiatives within the organizationUndertake additional duties as required to maintain effective HR operationsQualifications (What you'll need to be successful):Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.A minimum of 5-7 years of HR Generalist experience with a heavy focus on payroll.Solid understanding of HR laws and legislation.Experience with Paycom or a similar HRIS.Experience working in a manufacturing environment.Experience managing relationships with multiple unions,Collaborative and proactive approach to cross-functional teamwork.Strong organizational and tactical skills.
