Ferris Mfg. Corp., a successful and long-established Medical Device Manufacturer, is seeking a responsible, self-motivated, hard-working, and detail-oriented Membrane Line Supervisor. The Membrane Line Supervisor is accountable and responsible for mixing, membrane line operations and personnel, to fulfill the volume output and timing assigned by the Plant Manager.Duties and Responsibilities Supervision of Assigned PersonnelMonitor daily performance of employees and provide timely feedbackTrain line and operators and inspectorsAssure that workers follow approved safety, operational, and other proceduresProvide periodic feedback and written evaluations to management about assigned personnelAssist with performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and hiring decisionsMembrane Line OperationsOperate equipment according to the approved procedures to make membrane that meets approved specificationsMonitor and track line operational metricsAssure that equipment is operational and safeAssure preparation and review and sign manufacturing and maintenance records.Follow prescribed manufacturing and maintenance schedulesMaintain SOP's by reviewingsubmitting changes in timely fashion to assure safety, accuracy, and efficiencyImprove overall line productivity. Propose and implement enhancements to equipment, procedures, and personnel according to targets agreed with ManagementImmediately troubleshoot incidental problems to keep line in operationWhen needed, follow NCR and CAPA procedures to resolve problems Raw Material Handling and StorageAssure that all materials are stored in accordance with prescribed environmental and other conditions, with respect to their unique chemical and physical propertiesAssure employee awareness and understanding of physical and chemical hazardsAssure material handling is conducted in a safe and consistent manner by all employees, regarding relevant hazards Interaction with Other DepartmentsWork with the Engineering and Maintenance Department personnel to assure that the room and equipment is ready for operation and in compliance with safety requirementsWith Engineering, determine responsibility for design, fabrication, assembly, and qualification of new or changed equipment and processes for membrane lineWork with the Quality and Regulatory Department to assure that the personnel, room, and equipment are qualified and in compliance with internal and external requirementsWith Engineering and QA, mutually agree on responsibility to set up, calibrate, operate, and improve existing measuring devices, equipment, and fixtures for membrane lineEstimate and calculate physical and chemical parameters; timecostvaluepaybackComplaints, CAPAs, qualifications-provide support as requestedPerform testing, improve and qualify methodsIdentify relevant external documents; perform reviews and gap analysis Membrane Line Materials and Product DevelopmentAccomplish projects in timely fashion as agreed with ManagementCommunicate with other departmentsEvaluate chemicals, ingredients, materials, formulationsPrepare reports, procedures, specifications, and drawingsRead, interpret, and apply standardsKeep records, such as lab book, to facilitate regulatory, patent, and legal needs MiscellaneousUse education and experience to serve, support, and advise direct reports and other internal departmentsAccomplish other tasks as assigned by Manufacturing Manager. QUALIFICATIONS1 to 3 years' work experience in a manufacturing and regulated environment requiredBS degree in engineering or manufacturing disciplines or equivalent experience preferredSupervisory experience with direct reports required.Basic literacy to operate hardware (computers, copiers, and faxes), use software (word processing - MS Word, spreadsheets - MS Excel, email, websites) and learn systems unique to the companyputer Aided Design experience is desirablePLC (Programmable logic controller) programming ability, and ability to interface with equipment and other controls is desirableCompile, manipulate and analyze data sets LANGUAGE SKILLS Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence; communicate effectively and politely in person or on the phone to collectgive information and to accomplish tasks. Read, analyze, and interpret common and specialty scientific and technical books and journals. Respond to common inquiries or requests from assigned employees and internal coworkers; write reports that conform to prescribed style and format.
