Oversees day-to-day operations for area of responsibility. Coach and counsel employees toward performance improvement; discipline when necessary. Has strong recommendation authority re: hires and terminations. May assist with budgeting. Use discretionary judgment in the management of staff, customers and visitors. May provide staff education and training. Serve as key resource for staff in their day-to-day job duties. Identifies and facilitates opportunities for improvement in the areas of quality care and services, stewardship, employee satisfaction, communication, accountability and customer satisfaction. This position works under the Manager, Laboratory Director and works within the scope of practice in accordance with approved laboratory policies, procedures and protocols. This position is responsible in supervising a group of employees in Lab departments. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position DetailsDetailed responsibilities:* SupervisorTeam Lead Capabilities- Demonstrates accountability for shiftteam operations and careservice delivery to support achievement of organizational priorities.- Coaches front line team members to support ongoing professional development and hardwire technical and professional capabilities.- Creates a high performing team by building strong relationships, delegating work and nurturing commitment and engagement.- Manages team conflictissues implementing appropriate corrective actions, improvement plans and regular performance evaluations.- Applies change management best practices and standard work to support departmental changes and ensure effective team transition.- Promotes a healthy and safe culture to advance system, team and service experience.* People At The Heart Of All We Do- Fosters an inclusive and engaged environment through teamwork and collaboration.- Ensures patients and families have the best possible experiences across the continuum of care.- Communicates appropriately with patients, families, team members, and our community in a manner that treasures all people as uniquely created.* Safety And Performance Improvement- Behaves in a mindful manner focused on self, patient, visitor, and team safety.- Demonstrates accountability and commitment to quality work.- Participates actively in process improvement and adoption of standard work.* Stewardship- Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities.- Knows and adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures.* Standard Work Duties: Supervisor - Technical Laboratory- Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives- Coaches employees, oversees the orientation of new employees and assesses the ongoing competence of all employees and conducts performance appraisals- Schedules and assigns staff to ensure that workload is met- Engages staff in cost reduction andor quality improvement initiatives, as well as establishes adequate inventory levels to maintain services- Coordinates laboratory testing and ensures compliance with regulatory (CLIA, AHCA, OSHA) and accrediting (CAP, TJC) agencies in order to prepare testing sites for inspection or accreditation visits- Establishes and monitors the laboratory quality assurance programs respective to hisher discipline(s) and evaluates proficiency testing reports, QC ranges and monitors QC of testing procedures on at least a monthly basis including peer group comparison reports- Designs, develops and maintains new laboratory policies and procedures- Ensures compliance with Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute protocols and procedure format as well as all applicable state, federal, and standard of practices relative to laboratory testing- Coordinates the activities for test method development and documents all outcomes as directed by laboratory regulation Qualifications & ExperienceEducation:Essential:* Bachelor Degree Education equivalent experience:Essential:* Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist or equivalent with approved clinical laboratory internship. Meets requirements for General Supervisor under CLIA regulations (Refer to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act Standards and State of Florida qualifications for licensure) Other information:Licenses Essential: Licensed as a Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist or Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the state of Florida, obtain within six months of hire a Clinical Lab Supervisor license in the state of FloridaLicenses Preferred: Florida Supervisor's License with two years of experienceCertifications Essential: Certified as a supervisor for specific job postedCertifications Preferred: ASCP certification
