THE NEUROMEDICAL CENTER CLINICJob DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Licensed Practical NurseTypical Physical and Mental Demands: Requires full range of body motion, manual dexterity, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Occasionally requires the handling, lifting and transferring of patients. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Must be ambulatory in stairs in the event of an emergency. Occasionally requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to body fluids. Requires ability to work in high stress environment. Requires the ability to verbally communicate with physicians, other supervisors, hospital staff, patients and family members. Requires the ability to communicate with ill, upset or angry patients and family members.Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of medical practice and patient care techniques Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures Knowledge of medical instrumentation and equipment Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions needed to establish a safe work environment Knowledge of common health insurance terminology and managed care policies and procedures Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments as directed by a physician Skill in administering medications via subcutaneous and intramuscular routes as directed by a physician Skill in obtaining patient vital signs Skill in recording medical information and maintaining medical records Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public Coordinates and provides education to others (physicians, ancillary staff, etc) as appropriate Skill and proficiency on basic computer hardware and applications Ability to maintain quality control standards Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and interface with difficult individuals successfully Ability to communicate clearlv and concisely on an oral and written basis Participates in professional development activities and portrays a professional demeanor at all times Strictly adheres to The NeuroMedical Center Patient Confidentiality Policy Demonstrates a working knowledge of The NeuroMedical Center structure, standards, protocols, policies and procedures This employee requires access to patient information both through the computer and the patients chart. This employee is assigned a unique password which will allow access to protected health information (PHI) on the NMC computer system. Also this employee has access to the code for the Medical Records door. Employee understands that strict confidentiality must be maintained with PHI, using privacy policies and procedures that have been established at The NeuroMedical Center under HIPPA privacy regulations Employee is to wear The NeuroMedical Center ID badge at all times during the workdayMinimum Qualifications A minimum of three (3) years of related experience, preferably in an outpatient clinic setting with experience as a patient care giver, educator or patient advocate LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: LPN preferred or 5 years' experience as certified MA Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Effective Communication SkillsOther: Must be flexible & self-motivated.
