Job SummarySun Tribe EPC's Engineering Team Designs, Engineers, and supports unambiguous plans and specs to enable efficient and compliant project delivery of 1MW to 20MW size PV projects. We utilize both internal and external design and engineering resources. As a Senior Project Engineer, you develop and model bid level and early stage projects, manage 3rd party electrical engineering firms to create construction drawing sets, develop bills of materials, review equipment submittals, and provide technical support to field crews during construction. As a Senior Project Engineer at Sun Tribe, you will act as the responsible technical lead on assigned projects.The Senior Project Engineer position reports directly to the Director of Project Engineering and will work closely with other Engineers, Project Managers, Supply Chain, and Field Operations. ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates technical ownership of responsible projects from NTP through constructionEvaluates site constraint plans for technical and economic feasibilityDevelops and progresses PV system layouts using civil, environmental, permitting, and interconnection considerations.Evaluates and selects equipment to optimize system economics, functionality, reliability, constructability, and safetyReviews equipment submittals prior to procurement Assists with work order creation for a project's 3rd party electrical engineer of record ("EEOR")Manages the EEORHosts design charettes with internal stakeholders to collect comments on the 30%60%90%IFC drawing sets and transmits to the EEOREnsures that the EEOR's drawing set complies with the Sun Tribe's standards and owner's technical specificationsCreates project and equipment specifications and Bills of MaterialProvides guidance to Supply Chain on what tests should be performed for equipment that receives Factory Acceptance TestingOversees relay programming and generates work order for 3rd party consultants as neededProvides field support when necessary to solve technical problems, communicate design details, and perform quality control walk-throughsReviews QAQC documentation for completeness and accuracyAssists the O&M team to resolve issuesContinually seeks new equipment, design, and installation methodologies for PV systemsPerforms costbenefit analysis of design and construction variants to optimize economic and performance outcomesOther duties, as assignedBasic Qualifications RequiredBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Civil, Structural, or Mechanical acceptable depending on experience) requiredFive years' experience in solar PV system design or related field Understanding of the NEC, IBC, IFC, and other relevant electrical & building codes as they pertain to solar PV designTwo years of Project Management experienceStrong understanding of physical, electrical, and structural construction plansStrong software experience in AutoCAD and MS ExcelSkills & Experience PreferredEIT or PE in Electrical EngineeringMS in Engineering or ManagementProject Management Professional (PMP) or >4 years of PM experienceSoftware experience in Procore, MS Project, PVSystPVCase, or AutoCAD Civil 3DExcellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work well with others in a collaborative team environmentSelf-motivatedHonest, reliable, self-aware, and conscientiousStrong Planning, organization, and prioritization skillsOther RequirementsDemonstration of company core values; Community, Safety, Perpetual Improvement, Nature, Joy, and RespectAbility to work & thrive in a generally fast-paced office environmentSome evening and weekend work is requiredLocationThis position is eligible for a hybrid position in Charlottesville, VA or remote work from the mid-Atlantic region.
