To learn more about the company including a locations map, visit us at: SummaryThe Environmental, Health & Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Health and Safety compliance at the facility as well as ensuring stringent environmental compliance at the site level. This role is of critical importance at Stella-Jones, reflecting the company's dedication to upholding the highest standards in environmental stewardship, especially in the context of pressure treating wood products.Principal Environmental Responsibilities:Environmental Facility Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.Environmental Audits: Perform audits to identify potential areas of improvement and ensure adherence to environmental standards.Environmental Training: Develop and oversee environmental training programs for plant employees to ensure awareness and compliance.Permit Applications: Manage environmental permit applications, renewals, and modifications to ensure timely submissions and approvals.Policy and Program Implementation: Implement and oversee plant level environmental policies, programs, and procedures tailored to the unique needs of the wood treatment cident Investigation: Respond to and investigate any environmental incidents, spills, or concerns, ensuring proper mitigation and corrective actions are taken.Guidance and Direction: Provide guidance to other department supervisors and plant employees on environmental best practices, regulatory requirements, and company policies.Reporting and Recordkeeping: Ensure accurate and timely environmental reporting, including emission reports, waste management logs, water discharge data, and other pertinent environmental pany-wide Initiatives: Participate in and contribute to company-wide environmental initiatives and programs, ensuring the plant's alignment with broader organizational goals.Regulatory Updates: Stay abreast of industry-specific environmental regulations and best practices, especially those pertinent to wood treatment processes.Key Safety Responsibilities:Health and Safety facility inspections, audits and trainingHealth and Safety policy, programs and procedures implementationPerform accident and incident investigationsProvide directions to other department supervisors and plant employees regarding health and safety mattersAccurate and timely Health and Safety reporting and recordkeepingKeep abreast of OSHA regulations and update policies accordinglyOccasional travel to EHS training eventsPerform other related duties as assignedReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Safety Science or related field a plusTwo or more years of experience in a manufacturing industryKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Proficiency with computers: Specifically, Microsoft Office productsExperience in implementing environmental & safety management systems or programs preferredExcellent problem-solving abilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to train and educate staff on environmental & safety protocols and regulationsTeamwork and collaboration skillsWorking Conditions: Both indoor and outdoorPhysical Surroundings: Work in office environment with significant time spent in production operationsAdverse Working Environment: Exposure to noise from operating equipment, extreme temperatures from working outside at all times of the year, dirt, dust within the yard, hazards created by operating equipment and being near operating equipment, exposure to hazardous material requiring safety adherence and PPE equipmentPhysical Effort: Requires limited physical effort for positionExtensive Hours: 40+ hours a week may be required for 247 operation of plantThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by persons assigned to this position.
