Job descriptionPrecise Behavioral is a physician-owned and led organization that enables a mix of digital, telehealth, in-person, and community resources for improved patient outcomes. Our user-centered platform delivers evidence-based tailored mental health care for patients, providers, and health plans.The Behavioral Health Unit Director is responsible for the maintenance of the client hospital contractual relationship(s) and the overall administration of patient care for the cluded in these responsibilities are:The development and maintenance of a high-quality treatment programThe development and implementation of a comprehensive community relations programStrategic planning, program administration, and developmentSupervisory Responsibility: The BHU Director will provide direct supervision to employed clinical and administrative staff; and perform in an advisory capacity to client staff supporting the behavioral health program.Work Environment: The BHU Director works in close contact with patients who have moderate to severe psychiatric concerns andor behavioral issues. There is the possibility the Director could be exposed to violent behavior from patients andor behavioral issues as part of their daily duties.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential core function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, experience, and ability necessary to perform this job.Essential Core Functions:Performs as liaison between Program, Hospital and Precise Behavioral; communicating information and needs appropriatelySupports Hospital and Precise Behavioral missions, goals, and objectivesProvides leadership and direction in accordance with Hospital guidelinesProvides clinical supervision for unit nursing, counseling, patient support, and administrative staffDevelops and implements all policies and procedures for the ProgramEnsures the program meets and maintains all local, state, and Joint Commission regulations and standardsRemains on 24-hour call to handle emergency situationsDefines the philosophy, goals and objectives of the treatment program under the direction of hospital administration, and in conjunction with the Medical DirectorWorks with divisional and national support staff to ensure that the client hospital realizes maximum value from Precise Behavioral servicesUnderstands client hospital's expectations of Precise Behavioral and works to meet these expectationsDirects departmental staff involved in multidisciplinary teams to address process improvements involving patients, employees, other customers or teamsPromotes and develops positive, professional interaction with client hospital, senior management, peers, and staff through effective written and verbal communication, listening , and providing feedback in times of organizational changeCollaborates with medical and clinical staff in coordinating and managing the medical and psychosocial treatment plans and patient chart auditsParticipates in assessing and reassessing the needs of the patientSupervises all patient care and sets guidelines for accurately reporting and recording patient symptoms, reactions, and progressHas ultimate responsibility for ensuring all staff have properly documented all aspects of the patients' careEstablishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families, and friendsMaintains patient privacy and confidentiality; and protects operations by keeping patient and program information confidentialEnsures sufficient staff to provide for patient care needs in keeping with appropriate regulatory requirements and staffing planOperates within ethical standardsCommunicates and reviews Precise Behavioral and Hospital Ethics Policies with staffAssures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standardsAs needed, and using approved methods, assists in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints; observes suicideseclusion precautions; including physical requirements for physical holds and safe transport of patientsMaintains continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needsProtects patients and employees by adhering to safety standardsCompletes all required staff competencies per program regulations in a timely mannerEnsures operations of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs; and evaluating new equipment and techniquesProvide feedback to supervisor on ongoing basis in regards to concerns, improvements, changes, etc.Ensures patient charts and employee folders are complete and in compliance with Hospital, Precise Behavioral, state and Federal requirementsServes on assigned committees and attends all Program, Hospital, Precise Behavioral, provider, and staff meetings as requiredFacilitates and ensures active participation in Program, Hospital, provider and staff meetings as requiredProvides for professional growth and development of staff through identification of needs, development of individual training plans, participation in training programs, encouraging.Monitors personnel performance on a continuous basis. Intercedes when indicated and according to quality patient care standards and nursing practice guidelinesConducts regular performance evaluation for staff; conducts evaluation for new staff prior to completion of probationary periodDevelops and submits annual Quality Improvement Plan; this plan is based on the identified clinical performance issues, internal clinical audit findings, recommendations from the VP, and needs of the hospitalCollaborates with the Medical Director in the maintenance of the program milieuSubmits PI data on a weekly basis including responsiveness to weekly feedback; displays good working knowledge of contractual relationships related to PI, understands the goals of the client hospital administration and works to meet these goalsImplements quality improvement goals and objectives on the unit in a timely fashionProvide feedback to the client hospital on an ongoing basis in regard to concerns, improvements, changes, etc.Ensures all marketing reports are completed in an accurate and informative fashion, and meet designated time constraintsEnsures Precise is continuously updatedTogether with Precise Behavioral leadership and support staff, conducts formal marketing research, develops program design, and creates proposals for needed specialty programsCollects data to provide input andor feedback to customers (i.e., teams, supervisors, co-workers, nursing agencies, hospital administration) to improve work quality andor productivityOther duties as assigned Travel Moderate; up to 25% as needed to fulfill duties Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
