Title: HR GeneralistLocation: 233 Miller St, Newark NJ 07114Pay: $65-70KResponsible for serving as a business partner to supervisors, department managers and the General Manager for the flight kitchen.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Partners with various levels of management to understand business objectives and identify corresponding human resource needs; implements strategies to support various business objectives and improve programs to support employee retentionHelps drive division-wide human resources strategy, programs and processes into the unitPartners with operations and training functions to identify training needs and provide input on training approaches and contentPartners with operations to identify and understand workforce needs; may be responsible for recruiting union hourly employees and for assisting with recruitment for exempt and non-exempt positionsMay serve as the primary employee and labor relations point of contact to mediate and resolve employee disputes and union grievancesProvides counselingtraining for unit management in the areas of laboremployee relations, EEO, affirmative action and discriminationProvides policy interpretation and ensures accurate and consistent application of all company policies and procedures, and related local, state and federal laws, and applicable collective bargaining agreement(s)May be responsible for delivering orientation and other training programs as neededEnsures that weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports are completed accurately and in a timely mannerReceives and responds to employment-related claims from various government or public agencies; recommends settlement or defense based on actual investigation of factsAccomplishes human resources and organization mission by completing related results as neededQualificationsEducation:Bachelor's Degree is requiredWork Experience:At least 2 years of experience in human resources generalist role is requiredExperience working in transportation, hospitality, manufacturing or food service environment highly desirableTechnical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)Must have strong computer skills using Microsoft Office products including ExcelAbility to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environmentMust have strong and effective leadership skills, and the ability to successfully manage a large staffCurrent or previous labor relations experienceStrong organizational, analytical and leadership skills requiredMulti-lingual skills preferredDemonstrated knowledge of state and federal employment lawEffective relationship building and business partneringCross-functional collaborationTalent acquisitionAnalysisPrioritizing multiple projectstasksWorking independentlyCandidate must have strong interpersonal skills, and be highly organized, action oriented and collaborativeMust also have proficiency in all areas of EEOTile VII compliance including expertise in investigating and formally responding to Title VII chargesMust be innovative in making changes to the operation as needed to further improve the work environment and unit performancePHR is a plusLanguage Communication Skills:Excellent oral and written communication skillsBilingual (English Spanish) preferredWork Environment Requirements of the Job:Regularly, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 10+ hoursIn a normal production kitchen facility there may be physical discomfort due to temperature and noiseMust be able to lift, push, pull and move product, equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of twenty-five (25) poundsgategroup Competencies Required to be Successful in the Job:Thinking - Information Search and analysis & problem resolution skillsEngaging - Understanding others, Team Leadership and Developing PeopleInspiring - Influencing and building relationships, Motivating and Inspiring, Communicating effectivelyAchieving - Delivering business results under pressure, Championing Performance Improvement and Customer FocusDemonstrated Values to be Successful in the PositionEmployees at gategroup are expected to live our Values of Excellence, Integrity, Passion and Accountability.
