PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:The primary function of the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Supervisor is the supervision of operations within the Maintenance and Repair department which includes and is not limited to the maintenance and repair of equipment and large diesel machinery, upholding the goal of minimizing labor downtime, prioritizing efficiency, and extending the longevity of our assets while leading a team of skilled technicians. Potential candidates are expected to maintain and coordinate data regarding costs and labor for all preventive and corrective maintenance as well as adhering to the best practices of our company policies and the policies within the union contract.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervision and leadership- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians; Schedule and delegate tasks to ensure efficient use of resources; Provide technical guidance and support to team members.Maintenance planning-Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for all machinery; Collaborate with production and operations teams to plan maintenance activities without affecting production schedules.Troubleshooting and repairs- Oversee and participate in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; Ensure timely and effective resolution of breakdowns.Documentation and reporting- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history; Communicate regularly with management on maintenance related matters.Safety and compliance- Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all maintenance activities comply with industry regulations.All other duties as assigned.REQUIRMENTS:Supervisory experience.Bachelor's degree or certifications in a related field (preferred).Proven experience as a diesel supervisor, preferably in the marine industry.Strong knowledge of diesel engine operation, maintenance, and repair techniques.Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; o Leadership and team management skills.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.Familiarity with maintenance software and tools Knowledge of safety regulations and familiarity with OSHA.Strong communication and interpersonal skills; o Possession of valid, unexpired TWIC, or willingness to obtain a TWIC.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per yearSCHEDULES:This position works regularly 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.; however, the incumbent will need to be available when needed. The position may include work during weekends and in overtime as per the demands of the equipment maintenance.
