Job Description:

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to initiate external supplier quality improvement processes to achieve defect free dock to line parts. In this role, you will have the primary responsibility for performing supplier audits, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for all supplier quality issues. Successful candidates will display knowledge and experience of APQP and PPAP tools as well as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles. Ideally, this position would sit in our Fort Payne plant; however, we be open to this role sitting in our Chattanooga office with regular travel to the plant as well as to the suppliers. What you will do as Supplier Quality Engineer: supplier audits ensuring appropriate process and QA controls are in place to allow for dock to line defect free product while ensuring OTD performance.and maintain APQP process that links Heil's internal developmental activities with those of the supply chain.with suppliers to develop and approve PPAPs for new parts.timely resolution and cost recovery efforts related to sub-standard quality purchased components andor sub-assemblies.efforts to initiate and finalize root cause analysis and corrective actions (i.e., 8Ds, 5Ys, A3s, etc.) with Heil's supply base when issues occur in the plant or field.and analyze product warranty data. Use data to drive focused product quality improvement activities with suppliers.participate with Engineering design teams in new product release and or product improvement activities.knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean techniques to train suppliers to drive process improvement throughout their plants and the whole supply chain.and issues all necessary reports andor correspondence. Necessary qualifications to be a successful Supplier Quality Engineer:Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar background.years' work experience related to manufacturing quality, purchasing and supply chain or closely related field.Root cause analysis experience with GreenBlack belt preferred.Experience troubleshooting Hydraulic Systems, DC Power Systems and Electrical Circuits. Strong analytical and technical abilities with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams as well as lead team projects. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external customers at all levels as well as end-users of related products and services. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, and Minitab (14B or higher), or QI Macros.Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to control work processes from beginning to end. Must be able to handle multiple, wide range tasks in a fast-paced environment while still providing carefully thought-out results.
