Title: Camp CounsellorLocation: Cedar Creek, TX (Onsite)W2 Contract General Overview: Under close supervision, supports the Summer Camp Director with summer day camp. Facilitates summer camp activities, develops and implements lesson plans and challenge course programs.Assists summer camp staff with setup and breakdown of programs and keeps camp areas clean and well organized. Responsibilities also include keeping recreation equipment such as rafts, kayaks, and climbing equipment clean and operational.Works with customers of all ages and abilities. This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction, guidance and direction from supervisor, manager andor more experienced colleagues.Responsible for supervising day camp groups.Ensures and prioritizes the safety and needs of the campers.Implements camp curriculum and programs. Ensures the camp's activities and programs are run smoothly and efficiently. Assists summer camp staff with programs and activities.Serves as a positive leader for campers while providing a fun and enriching experience for youth. Serves as an example for campers and others in punctuality, sportsmanship, teamwork, conservation and respect for nature.Respects each camper for their individuality while creating a culture of community, understanding and appreciation of nature through communication and teamwork. x Communicates effectively with appropriate parents or guardians.Keeps recreation equipment such as rafts, kayaks, and climbing equipment clean and operational.Operate camps in accordance with Texas Department of State Health Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Minimum Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled and have completed one or more years of college and working towards or have received a degree in Recreation, Environmental Sciences, Outdoor Education or related field. Must be an enthusiastic self-starter who enjoys working in the outdoors. Texas driver's license Participation and completion of CPRFirst Aid and American Canoe Association training courses Successful completion of criminal background check Must be at least 18 years of age Preferred. Qualifications: Experience working with children of all ages and abilities Experience facilitating summer camps and outdoor recreation activities such as boating, camping and hiking Rafting and challenge course experience Customer service experience and a professional attitude Knowledge. Skills and Abilities: Skill in effectively resolving conflicts.Skill in verbal communication.Skill in providing customer service.Skill in collaboration.Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.Ability to build relationships and foster teamwork.Ability to work in a team environment.Ability to work with children of all ages and abilities. Work Environment: Some work hours are spent in a park facility or outdoor environment.Work involves exposure to water surface conditions and wave action.Work requires passing criminal background check Physical Demands.Work involves frequent standing andor walking in an outdoor environment, including walking over uneven surfaces.Work involves infrequent work at heights greater than 6 feet.Work includes lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
