Must Haves:BA in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or Construction Management OR 5+ years of experience within construction estimation2+ years of experience in the Geotech industry as a general contractor estimator for underground projects15-20% travelExperience working through full lifecycle of construction estimations for both direct and indirect costs for projects of 30 million+Experience using a bidding software such as heavy bid, buildxact, estimating link, redteam go, redteam flex, etc Pluses:Experience estimating on tunneling projectsHeavy bid Day to Day:We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our dynamic geotechnical engineering client. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation, coordination, and execution of comprehensive technical and commercial proposals. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, financial acumen, and risk assessment capabilities to ensure the successful acquisition and hand-over of contracts to operations. Key Responsibilities:Proposal Development: Prepare and wrap-up detailed technical and commercial proposals, ensuring all aspects of the project are accurately captured.Client Support: Provide technical assistance to clients, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.Engineering Coordination: Coordinate and develop engineering methods and processes to optimize project outcomes.Risk Assessment: Conduct technical, financial, and contractual risk assessments to identify potential project challenges.Contract Management: Facilitate the smooth transition of acquired contracts to the operations team.Project Analysis: Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the project scope, attend pre-bid meetings, and conduct site visits.Collaboration: Interact with operations staff to develop a comprehensive work approach and prepare quantity takeoffs using computerized estimating software.Design Review: Evaluate design options and recommend the best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.Estimate Preparation: Manage bid time effectively to ensure accurate and timely preparation of estimates.Documentation: Maintain organized files of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including up-to-date pricing information.Estimate Organization: Detail estimates for clarity and efficient handover to field personnel.Historical Data Review: Incorporate historical data from various sources into current estimates to enhance accuracy.Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest degree of estimate accuracy and maintain professional standards when representing the company.Proposal Coordination: Participate in the coordination of commercial proposals and prequalifications for projects.Site Accessibility: Ability to navigate construction sites in diverse climates and environments.Travel: Willingness to travel as required by the role.
