The ideal candidate will be able to commute to the project and have at least 8 years worth of relevant experience in our industry.Position SummaryIn this position you will assist in the development of transportation design projects for clients such as LADOTD, counties and municipalities. The candidate will develop concepts as well as work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects.This would include developing geometric alignments, profiles, surface modeling, cross sections, grading design, drainage, superelevation, construction details, work zone traffic control, erosion control, and signing and striping plans.The candidate will work in a fast-paced engineering environment where projects may be derived from a number of delivery methods including conventional publicly bid projects and design build.Duties and Responsibilities:• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including surveyors, engineers, and subconsultants, while providing guidance to junior staff.• Oversee the operational success of the Louisiana transportation team, focusing on profitability, staffing, employee morale, and client satisfaction• Develop proposals for transportation projects to be submitted to DOT and other relevant agencies.• Create detailed technical proposals and deliver concise presentations during shortlisting processes.• Draft scopes of work, negotiate fee agreements, and manage subconsultant contracts.• Act as project manager, overseeing project scope, schedule, budget, and quality assurance.• Lead and supervise transportation projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to DOT standards, codes, and regulations.• Serve as the Engineer of Record and coordinate comprehensive design phases for transportation engineering projects.• Conduct presentations to prospective clients and stakeholders, addressing inquiries from internal and external audiences.Key Details Of Job Role:Study and analysis of the layout: Geometric analysis of the design, justification of existing solutions and possible alternatives that improve project costs and deadlines, assessment, and adaptation to the local conditions of the project, inventories, and geometric ratios of the design. Review of designs carried out by external engineers and presentation of proposals.Regulatory compliance: Knowledge and application of local road layout and signage regulations, being familiar with the official organizations that generate the orders and standards that affect the designs, to make the necessary updates.Analysis of measurements: Preparation of estimation of measurements and detailed measurements; preparation of digital models and subproducts (plans, elevations, profiles, BIM) of the designs with sufficient detail, making comparisons and justification of adapted criteria, constructive, technical, and economic vision.Project analysis: General study of a project in its different phases (feasibility, design, or construction), relationship of the different disciplines and annexes that may affect or be affected by the layout. Drafting design reports and calculations of different specific elements for construction works.Surveying and cartography: knowledge of surveying principles and cartography; cartography quality.QualificationsRequirements:• Minimum of 8 years of technical experience in transportation design.• Execution of layout projects in linear works, in Engineering or in Construction Technical Services.• Road layout worksprojects in the US will be highly valued.• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.• Professional Engineering license.• Prior experience with DOT projects is essential.• Proficient in Bentley (SS2, Geopak, OpenRoadsRailBridge, MicroStation) Other programs include ISTRAM, Civil3D, CAD, Presto, and GIS.Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
