Legal Administrative Assistant - Settlements Bailey Cowan Heckaman PLLC (BCH), a well-established national plaintiff law practice, is seeking an administrative assistant to join our winning team located near the Galleria in Houston, Texas. We are looking for someone with a strong hands-on work ethic and the same amount of passion about helping our clients and doing the best job possible. As a legal administrative assistant with our firm, you will be responsible for a variety of assignments but will focus primarily on processing settlements for our highly successful asbestos and personal injury dockets. This position will also assist with the execution of day-to-day activities of the asbestos and personal injury department - we are team based and want someone who will thrive in a fast-paced team atmosphere. Primary Responsibilities:Primary responsibilities include following up for releases from defendants, preparing releases to be sent out to clients, tracking the return of releases from clients, sending the executed releases and supporting documents to the defendant, assistance with lien reporting and tracking, mailing settlement statements to clients, and preparing dismissals (among other things).  Will be required to maintain related data in firm's client management database (firm uses Needles). Must be very organized and detail oriented as this position requires systematic tracking and continual follow-up on outstanding releases. Good writing, proofreading and editing skills are required. Candidate should be willing and able to perform administrative functions necessary to complete primary job duties and assist attorneys and other department members as needed (including faxing, copying and scanning).
