Company: CDI Engineering SolutionsPosition: Instrumentation & Electrical Designer (Contract Position)Location: Suffolk, VAPosition Summary:This position performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls design work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems. Besides a thorough technical knowledge about electric power systems, field instrumentation, local and distributed control systems, it is also valuable to have a basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes. The main objective of this position is to provide design and technical services to operations and service units to assure safe operations, regulatory compliance and to maximize the availability and efficiency of these units.Position Responsibilities and Qualifications:Responsible for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Design for Capital Projects.Supporting Engineering and Construction Contractors on an as needed basis.Able to coordinate with client Engineering Design Team andor Outside Engineering Resources.Supporting Operations and Maintenance as a technical resource when needed.Being able to understand and apply industry codes that apply to an industrial manufacturer.Provides instrumentation and controls design support to all phases of project design, execution, installation, commissioning and operation.Maintains and applies company instrumentation design criteria and specifications as well as industry recognized standards.Troubleshoots and diagnoses instrumentation related issues including electrical, mechanical, and computer controlled systems.Assists in factory acceptance testing and field inspections.Responsible for creating, updating and drafting design documents including but not limited to loop sheets, motor schematics, panel schedules, IO cabinets and onelines.Other duties and projects as assigned.Proposes options to resolve issues. Has a bias for action.Results oriented. Drive to achieve objectives. Accepts the consequences of their actions.Creates solutions to complex, non-routine problems.Provides recommendations to management within businessfunctional team.Position Qualifications:Advanced knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.)Ability to translate creative ideas into tangible solutions.5+ years of Electrical, Instrumentation or Controls installation experience.5+ years of related experience in a Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.Education Requirements:Associate's Degree in Electrical, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent science degree.CDI Engineering Solutions, LLC ("CDI") is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workplace.
